HMMM , strange story with a strange ending. Thought provoking to me though. I can somewhat relate to the author. While not growing up rich or even in an affluent family, and actually being po’ white trash, I was fairly popular within my economic and social class. I well remember the “fat girls”, nerdy geeks, and other social outcasts and after I ran across some of them later in life, many still fat, ugly,or nerdy, while some outgrew their awkwardness, I always think, “ Man, I sure hope I was not too unkind to them back in the day”. I don’t recall being exceptionally cruel to anyone, mainly I just ignored those people

Why not just post a thread that says “please click on conservativecave.com”? It might save you some time and some embarrassment.

Oh my.

Actually, I’ve posted a lot here.

The deal was, yesterday was a cold and rainy Sunday in the Sandhills of Nebraska, and excepting for the random by chance automobile speeding down the highway a few miles north of here, the closest human being in my vicinity at the time was 21 miles away.

Surrounded by trees, alongside a river, all sorts of flora and fauna, and not being a nature fanatic—and for obvious reasons not inclined towards radio or television—all the books in the house read—the cats romping and playing atop the William Rivers Pitt circa two blocks away from the house—and again, it being a cold and rainy day.....

.....well, I can think of a lot worse things to do, than just sitting around remembering something.

Admittedly, the story’s a lemon, I laid an egg, but that happens. One learns, and moves on.

Again, I can think of a lot worse things to do, than just sitting around remembering something.

Well, *I* enjoyed it. It’s a slice of real life, nothing wrong with that. Life is strange, I LIKE that! LOL! I grew up with a girl who ended up being a notorious bank robber. Life is just strange.

Not sure what you are used to. I think people here are more interested in bottom lines and poignant points.

I feel sorry for the fat girl, though. Imagine, blaming Ronald Reagan.

Of course, but that’s real life too.

I think it ended up being a lousy story because of an incomplete or ambiguous ending, but because it’s non-fiction, it reflects real life, which rarely has neat, all-loose-ends-tied-up endings. To this day, I do not know what happened to the fat girl (here, the ending took place in the mid-1980s). She wreaked a great deal of havoc in that grocery store, and so possibly she was put away for a very long time.

I admit it is a lousy story, but given the number of stories I’ve posted here, I’m never sure. Some of the stuff I myself thought was pretty good, the audience yawned; other stuff I thought was lousy, the audience applauded.

It’s a learning process.

And while I’m sorry it ended up a lousy story, I’m not sorry I posted it. freerepublic, after all, offers one an opportunity (for which we’re all grateful) to toss ideas, observations, experiences, out for critical approval or disapproval.

Yep weird and I have no idea why it was written.

Put it in the garden!

It will either grow amazing tomatoes, or kill every weed in sight.

Or, more likely, vice-versa. *<];-^)

But I do take criticism seriously, so as to keep going in the right direction.

Instead of taking criticism, you should have taken her out of pity.
