Is it a good thing for lawyers to be totally running the country? I suspect it's a bad idea - I'll have to check with my attorney to be sure...

Of course it's a lousy idea, the whole notion that the Obama administration won't allow 'business as usual' to continue is laughable. The Obama administration is (business as usual)
3.
During election season I'd switched my tagline from my usual delphic quotation from Slobodan Milosevic to "For real change, stop electing lawyers, Fighter Pilot/Hockey Mom '08".

Lawyers were never meant to be in the Executive and Legislative branches. They are officers of the court, part of the judicial branch. It is one of the biggest sources of problems we have.
NEVER vote for a lawyer!

Lawyers are lucky. They have the LAW to guide their activities. The rest of us have to depend on common sense, fair play and a notion of right and wrong.

I don't think any lawyer should be permitted to hold any legislative office at any level of government. It's a conflict of interest. They write the laws in such a way as to cement their power and to help themselves fleece billions of dollars from the rest of us.
Regarding the executive offices under the Presidency, he should be allowed to appoint whomever he wants. I think it's a grave mistake to appoint so many lawyers, but so be it.
