Authorities reported today that a naked man stunned by a police Taser was arrested Wednesday night following a car crash and a near collision with a police car.

Jorge Aguirre, 22, of Santa Ana was booked at Santa Ana City Jail, said police Sgt. Mark Kozakowski.
The incident happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday. Santa Ana police officers were patrolling the neighborhood near Harbor Boulevard and Fifth Street when they heard a traffic collision, said Santa Ana police Cmdr. Larry Coleman. A driver flagged down the patrol car and pointed out a van driving away as the vehicle that had just hit him, Coleman said.
Officers pulled the van over in a business complex parking lot, but as they walked up to the van to talk to the driver, the van rolled backward, stopping just an inch before the patrol car, Coleman said. Officers said the driver was moving around in the front seat of the van and ignored several orders to put up his hands, Coleman said.
Unable to get him to cooperate, officers fired a Taser at the man through the van's open window, hitting him in the shoulder and neck, Coleman said. With the driver temporarily stunned, officers walked up to the van and discovered the driver was naked.
The shuffling around in the front seat was the driver trying to find his clothes,

Butt banditry must be a serious crime in the Midwest - when I was in USAF flight school at Vance AFB, OK in 1968 a fellow classmate was kicked out a few weeks prior to graduation for mooning a pizza parlor.
Just FYI...... A naked perp is often on PCP. If you don’t know what that means, you may be dealing with a manic psychotic superman capable of being shot in the chest with no immediate results. Now, knowing that, what should the cop do?
I think that many or even most of us were already aware of what you say, given the frequency of such occurrences, and I haven't seen any poster seriously question the police actions. I think that many (including myself) found the article amusing because of the choice of words in the title, as if suggesting it was merely another random 'motorist' who just happened to be naked and was therefore tased.
Given the circumstances I would probably have done the same thing and would have been ready to use lethal force as well, given the uncooperative nature of the perp....he could just have easily been fumbling with a gun as with his clothes.
