Tests Confirm T. Rex Kinship With Birds
NYT ^ | April 25, 2008 | JOHN NOBLE WILFORD

Posted on 04/24/2008 11:04:30 PM PDT by Soliton

In the first analysis of proteins extracted from dinosaur bones, scientists say they have established more firmly than ever that the closest living relatives of the mighty predator Tyrannosaurus rex are modern birds.

There is just one big problem that has been overlooked: the pulmonary systems are totally different, and you can get from one to the other.

Mammals breathe in and out; birds breathe straight through.

Stop drinking the koolaid. First, dinosaurs weren't mammals, so your reply is wrong form its inception. Secondly, this is a study at the protein level that validates the anatomical studies. Strong supporting evidence. Third, Like us, "birds need to breathe air in and out of their lungs in order to fulfil the cycle of bringing oxygen into the body to be used in metabolism and also to take the waste CO2 away from the body." http://www.earthlife.net/birds/breath.html

According to evolutionary theory, did mammals develop from reptiles, from birds, or from something else?

Just curious.

"birds breathe straight through"? ----------------------

Straight through what?

My post was about birds evolving from dinosaurs. It didn't mention mammals. However, I would be interested in seeing any scientific evidence you have that would suggest that one kind of oxygen/CO2 exchange system can't possibly evolve into another.

Birds use a lot of energy and require rapid respiration and smaller alvioli. They have evolve a breathing system like a bagpipe with air storage bags. They breath in and out, but the lungs themselves process the oxygen/ co2 exchange continuously. Dinosaurs breathed the same way. More evidence for evolution.

I find that liberals love to promote this theory. The liberal media behavior with the dinosaurs to birds evolution is EXACTLY like other narratives that have become truer than truth because it is "good for us" to believe them. I have possible reasons in mind why they are so in love with it.

Mind you, I am not commenting on the applicability of this notion or this research to knowable or unknowable facts of history.

Did they find t.rex droppings on something that resembled a giant statue?

Wonder if T.Rex didn’t “roar” but instead “tweet”. That would be incongruous.

Birds make lots of different sounds. Geese can be really loud.

Mammals evolved during the Triassic period, about the same time that the first dinosaurs appeared. The earliest mammals were tiny, shrew-like mammals. The long line of animals leading to the mammals includes: Jawless fish (Cambrian period-mid Ordovician periods) Bony fish (mid Ordovician period-late Devonian period) Amphibians (late Devonian period-early Carboniferous period) Reptiles (late Carboniferous period) Pelycosaurs ("mammal-like reptiles") (late Carboniferous period to very early Triassic period) Mammals (mid-Triassic period to today). You are right. We evolved from chemicals.

“even if there is evolution life didn’t come from nothing.”

Ultimately, you are right. According to Big Bang theory, this universe exploded into existence about 13.7 billion years ago out of nothing. Why? No answer from science, and there probably never will be. God is as good an explanation as any.

As far as the creation of life on this earth, there are tantalizing hints that it may have come about spontaneously, but certainly nothing substantial.

The believed progression was fish to amphibians; amphibians to reptiles; reptiles to mammals and birds.
