That's why, for the first time in 35 years, a team of policy experts and scientists have united to establish a set of alien-contact protocols for the entire world to follow in the event of a sudden encounter with E.T.
"Science fiction is awash with explorations of the impact on human society following discovery of, and even encounters with, life or intelligence elsewhere," John Elliot, a computer scientist at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, said in a statement. Elliot is the coordinator of the University of St. Andrews' newly established SETI Detection Hub, the cross-disciplinary organization that will establish the new alien contact protocol.

I would imagine that any beings traveling across the expanse of the universe would probably direct the conversation.

I expect aliens to be no different. Odds are any aliens that came here would want our resources or us in some bad way. And the fact that they have the tech to get here shows they have the means to take whatever they wanted with little effort.
I’m currently watching the 2019 “War of the Worlds” series on Prime. The aliens have their own “contact protocol” established.
They’re killing every living human on earth.

At best, we provide alien civilizations the opportunity for their anthropologists to study a primitive species. At worst, we provide a B-grade reality / comedy equivalent of a TV show for ETs.
and remember, when they get here they will eat the fat ones first!
NASA should to us a favor, stop enticing something to come here that we have no way to defend against.
Probably presumes what form the aliens will take. Maybe they are already here.
