In the first five minutes of this video, this woman goes on and on about how happy and excited she is because she just got back the results of her mitochondrial DNA test. She took the test because she wanted to find out which African tribe or tribes she is descended from. A person (male or female) inherits Mitochondrial DNA solely from their mother.
After five minutes of joyous anticipation, she finally opens the envelope and looks at the results.
She is absolutely devastated to find out that her mitochondrial DNA is of “non-African lineage.”

It still is. Look at any number of NFL and NBA players. If you watch college sports you often time see guys who look biracial and when they show the parents it’s always a white woman and Black man. I don’t think white men find too many Black women to be attractive enough to date or marry.

I bought a DNA test from ancestry.com, but never sent in a specimen. My cousin keeps nagging me to do it, because it goes into a database, and anyone who has similar familial traits all get joined up, or some such nonsense. That makes want to do it even less.
Don’t say you weren’t warned. Just because you look African, you might not be African.
Genes don’t lie.
I did it just for grins as I wanted to know what sort of background I have and gratefully reinforced what I was told and embraced my Jewish ancestry -

I’m not completely sure, but do some black folks still have a bias against blacks who have really dark skin? I know that used to be a thing.

My husband is mostly American indian, but he looks a little like Chinese to me. Alaskan natives, who haven’t got mixed blood, look suspiciously like Japanese. I was at an Indian event this weekend, and there were women there who looked Vietnamese, but they were indians. In the area I was, there are a lot of Indians who have not intermarried with whites for several generations. My husband sent to school with a guy, and he asked him, “what tribe are you” ? The guy says, I’m Asian. To me,Chang American Indians look Asian.
Does she owe the government any money for any benefits, like tuition, she received for claiming to be black?

Have no idea where that word Chang came from. This kindle has a very odd autocorrect function.
In one ‘test’ 3 identical triplets sent in separate tests from 3 different addresses.
The results came back with 3 completely different results.
I wouldn’t pay a penny for such tests. I know who my parents & grand parents were.
Maybe she needs to get someone white to re-run the test.

The commercial that gets me is the one of the woman with jet black long straight hair, “red” skin and high cheek bones who is so shocked she’s Native American. Well, duuuuuh.
