All sophisticated life on the planet Earth may owe its existence to one freakish event.
At first glance, a tree could not be more different from the caterpillars that eat its leaves, the mushrooms sprouting from its bark, the grass growing by its trunk, or the humans canoodling under its shade. Appearances, however, can be deceiving. Zoom in closely, and you will see that these organisms are all surprisingly similar at a microscopic level. Specifically, they all consist of cells that share the same basic architecture.
These cells contain a central nucleusa command center that is stuffed with DNA and walled off by a membrane. Surrounding it are many smaller compartments that act like tiny organs, carrying out specialized tasks like storing molecules or making proteins. Among these are the mitochondriabean-shaped power plants that provide the cells with energy.
This combination of features is shared by almost every cell in every animal, plant, fungus, and alga, a group of organisms known as eukaryotes.
Bacteria showcase a second, simpler way of building a cellone that preceded the complex eukaryotes by at least a billion years. These prokaryotes always consist of a single cell, which is smaller than a typical eukaryotic one and bereft of internal compartments like mitochondria and a nucleus. Even though limited to a relatively simple cell, bacteria are impressive survival machines. They colonize every possible habitat, from miles-high clouds to the deep ocean. They have a dazzling array of biological tricks that allow them to cause diseases, eat crude oil, conduct electric currents, draw power from the Sun, and communicate with each other.
Still, without the eukaryotic architecture, bacteria are forever constrained in size and complexity. Sure, they have their amazing skill sets, but its the eukaryotes that cover the Earth in forest and grassland...

Wow. What we need more of is science, Vetsy:
There are other strange forms of “life” — like Virii (viruses?) — are they even alive? Or prions
However, their pro-evolution, anti-God bias limits their understanding and thinking. In their effort to explain away God, they postulate that one time, eons ago, a single cell organism took in another that became a mitochondria, and that all advanced life came from this one-time event that took a billion years to happen.
I've begun reading creation-oriented articles at www.icr.org. The one that stands out to me so far is that because the interior stars in spiral galaxies rotate around the center faster then those farther out, if the universe is as old as proclaimed, then these galaxies should be plates or discs and not spirals.
Likewise, evolution by it's very name, implies a gradual change. However, some changes are not gradual but leaps which require multiple simultaneous changes. This is arithmetically impossible under any reasonable statistical analysis. One would think that a deep study of science would drive practitioners closer to God rather than devising increasingly convoluted explanations to explain creation without God's involvement.
ICR is a poor source of information. It presupposes outcomes and cherry-picks data that support desired results.
Darwin’s Black Box explained the inner workings of the cell in ways I had never thought possible. Fantastic book.
It also gives great insight into Charles Darwin’s ideas on how the cell operated. That is why he thought evolution was possible. If they had known what the inner workings of the cell truly were back then, evolutionary theory would have died stillborn.

I’ll pray that you don’t succumb to their brand of ignorance.
“There are many possible explanations, but one of these has recently gained a lot of ground. It tells of a prokaryote that somehow found its way inside another, and formed a lasting partnership with its host. This inner cella bacteriumabandoned its free-living existence and eventually transformed into the mitochondria. These internal power plants provided the host cell with a bonanza of energy, allowing it to evolve in new directions that other prokaryotes could never reach.”
Ahhhh. Even at the microscopic level, they can’t stop with the utopian concepts they create out of thin air, even when evidence tells them otherwise.
This is pure cognitive dissonance. Microbiological utopia. Whoda thunk it...
Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.
ICR, Answers in Genesis, Creation Science Movement (UK Organization. I believe the very first Creation Science Group - they have a small, but interesting, library of books) - are all very good.
Maybe from your perspective, but any article that anyone writes is going to exclude myriads of information. It must in order to write a concise article on it's selected subject. If you predeterninately strongly believe otherwise then an article's premise you can easily decide that any article "cherry picks". Incidentally, these creationist sites document many cases of evolutionist doing just as wrote.
It’s not a matter of perspective, it’s a matter of intellectual honesty. I am a scientific researcher and if I attempted to draw the conclusions that the ICR does from the information they relate, I’d be laughed out of the room. Seriously. I’ve never seen more question begging, non sequiturs, and misplaced appeals than I do in the crap they produce.
Cells have walls? But, walls are bad!
