Publishers for US First Lady Michelle Obamas upcoming cookbook have released an early preview of the books cover art and revealed more details about its spring release.
American Grown: How the White House Kitchen Garden Inspires Families, Schools, and Communities, published by Crown Publishers, is Obamas first cookbook and will be issued in both print and digital editions.
The print edition will include photos of the White House garden and Obama throughout the seasons, and include more details about how the First Lady was inspired by her daughters Sasha and Malia to change her familys eating habits and plant an edible garden on the South Lawn the first since Eleanor Roosevelts Victory Garden, planted during the Second World War.
The book will also provide ideas and resources on how to start urban gardens and make long-lasting lifestyle changes with recipe ideas and simple tips.
Obama accepted no advance for the book and all net proceeds will go to charity. The book goes on sale in the US April 10, 2012.
Obamas not the first First Lady to espouse a cause and pen a book or two. Laura Bush co-wrote a childrens book promoting literacy Read All About It! with daughter Jenna, while Hillary Rodham Clinton, current Secretary of State, wrote It Takes a Village while First Lady as a vocal child advocate.
Mooschelle Pie, and other fatty favorites.
How does one prepare hay, oats, etc??? Hello Wilbur...get me that cookbook!!!
I would have thought that Kashyyyk Kuisine would lean a little more toward raw small animals and pickled rodents instead of veggies.
Great....all those 4th generation welfare recipients can zoom on down when the welfare check comes, and buy Mama Messiah’s cook book....
First, you gets the taxpayer-paid WH gardeners to dig you up a garden plot
Next, you plants some collards in the dirt. Don’t get none on those $500 sneakers.
Then you dumps some Blue Plains sludge on that garden... mercury and other heavy metals make them plants perk right up
Next day you goes out and harvests the full grown plants the WH gardeners stuck into the dirt that night
yum
Mmmmm good, bet yo a$$.
That title sounds like Moochelle has been listening to the little voices in her head regarding her little “Victory” garden. Because I don’t know anyone - left, right or center (and I live in the Bay Area) - that has gone out and dug up part of their backyard to grow veggies.
And what does that mean “she was inspired by her [props, er...] daughters?” Is she implying that they’re fat and lazy and need to eat better? Because I’m sure they didn’t run up to her the first day in the White House and beg for home-grown broccoli.
I doubt if many of the “Occupy Wall Street” or Limousine Liberal types will rush to click onto Amazon to order one.
Who tends the garden while she’s travelling all over the world on the taxpayers’ dime?
I figure that if they spent $300,000 on the garden, paying the gardeners, etc (probably low considering what she spends on all of those assistants) and then harvested 30,000 vegetables (probably pretty high) then each carrot costs $10.
No, thanks, MO, I already have a fat posterior.
How many copies of this book will be bought by the State Department?
I wonder what the $$$ advance she got is & like Obama's book - they will spend taxpayer money buying the book to pass it around to schools & wherever they can.
That's how his books were purchased - so that he makes money on the royalties too!!
It's another scam to make sure the greedy pigs get all the money that they can at our expense. Even if YOU don't buy the book - you're paying anyway.
"And let's be clear: It's not enough just to limit ads for foods that aren't healthy.
It's also going to be critical to increase marketing for foods that are healthy. "~Michelle Obama
I’d rather get a Paula Deen cookbook .
Probably about the same number as the Jimmy Carter devotional Bible (not a joke) Zondervan is publishing next year.
“American Grown”... obviously not a book about Barack.
I heard Bill Ayers is one of the ghost writer? Orinally it the book was going to be titled American Grown Terrorism. Then Valerie Jarrett informed him at one of the underground Commie meeting that the book was about gardening. So, he dropped the word “terrorism” from the title and just called it American Grown.
about right for a city where muffins cost $16 apiece
