A 31-year-old techie of Indian origin who had just secured her H1B called upon an Uber to visit her friends. The Uber arrived at the scheduled time. It was driven by a white American man probably 25-year-old. As the driver started the journey after the pickup, he assumed that his passenger was probably a student because Lafayette is basically a university town. As his curiosity got better of him, he asked,
Hey which school do you go to?
To which, the passenger replied that she was actually a software professional working for a large software company. The driver was surprised but didnt say anything. The passenger later told me that by all possibility the driver probably was driving Uber to pay for his college and most likely had a dream of becoming just like her. What she told after this surprised me and it would not be wrong to say, probably it somewhat frightened me as well. She said that there was no way in the world that this White People could compete with the Indian, Japanese or Koreans and get a decent job. For a casual observer, this might just be a regular conversation, but for me who always wanted to know, how on earth a person like Donald Trump could become the head of a country like the USA which boasted of leaders like Thomas Jefferson, Abe Lincoln or till recently Barack Obama. These gents were true statesmen, unlike Donald Trump.
I wanted to get in a bit deeper. Providence gave me a chance. I was invited for a Christmas Eve party hosted by a famous doctor who again was of Indian origin and as doctors in America are, was filthy rich.

the USA which boasted of leaders like Thomas Jefferson, Abe Lincoln or till recently Barack Obama. ................................ OK if she is an Indian, I’d giver her a break, so 2 out of 3 isn’t bad.
Apparently the problem is ultra-nationalism. The author uses a lot of quotes from dead Nazis to explain the case. So angry, deluded ultra-nationalists elected Trump. Because immigrants from India make tons of money in SW and white Americans drive Ubers to feed their families. Which makes America a fascist country. Or something.
Makes me feel better what I called the sprint operator today over the phone.
I assume it was understood in all languages.
Long winded & closed minded.
MAGA does not = White, IMO.
It equals all actual Americans who want to maintain what we have and what we are.
Yeah exactly....
....painful reading her mucky muck.....
...I gave up
This line from the article illustrated that the author doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about: “For decades the common white American was laid back, drinking beer and watching soccer.”
Anybody that thinks the common white American watches soccer on a regular basis doesn’t know a thing about America.
This is so wrong. I am not sure if this was really meant to be true or not. In Palo Alto, about two thirds of the developers are Asians. The other third are Caucasians. There are virtually no black developers. These people are all well paid. And no white cab driver would be surprised to see Asians working as a developer. And no guy with a Computer Science degree is driving for Uber unless he has a mental illness. And anyone who thinks Obama is a great statesman ingests a lot of propaganda without much discretion.
We are exoected to reason with ingrates like this?
They have declared war on normal people, whom they hate. Attempting to compromise with these people is surrender. We win or lose. No common ground exists except in the delusional minds of the Republican surrender monkeys.
We are not all “Americans”. Those who believe in the Constitution are. Those who abhor & wish to destroy the Constitution are subversives. It is indeed that simple.
This reads like some weird anti-white racist porn, with the author drawing bizarre political conclusions because some rich Indians had a white Uber driver.
The author sounds like a narcissistic jerk.
Big Brother says: “Nationalism is ultra-nationalism is fascism.”
Such a comfortable cocoon.
I thought she was going to wise up when she turned to India, but no. More circular self-gratification.
The funny thing is, a lot of Americans already knew how to code. Then they were laid off and their severance packages hinged on training their H1B replacements from places like...India.
Now a few folks with no filter say White People cant compete with them. Well, no duh, when elites bought you cheap and helped you over to be trained by the Americans you replaced.
Then the author convinces himself that the smart political move for the native-born is to go ultra-nationalist and elect a strong-man to put the brakes on the elitesbut that this leads to fascismwhich is the same as terrorism in his mind.
So, Americans are damned if they do and damned if they dont.
The articles author can go take a flying leap and thank his lucky stars he can patronize Americans in America.
Firstly, no the average American certainly wouldn’t be watching soccer.
Secondly, nationalism and fascism are two different things.
Third, Obama a statesman? Really?
Finally, she’s reading the situation wrong IMO. The problem as many Americans see it is not the very high end Indians and making lots of money in top jobs. The problem is that corporations have abused the H1B and other visa programs to bring in middle management types from India and elsewhere and pay them LESS than what an American would make to do that same job.
So not only is an American out that job but they’re also denied the chance to climb the corporate ladder or their career progress is delayed several years. Now add to that the staggering cost of American education and you get people with large debts who can’t get the kinds of jobs their expensive degrees were supposed to get them. This ruins their credit when they inevitably default or at the very least makes it impossible for them to ever get on the property ladder.
No wonder people are pissed.
Hmmmm. I was driven by an Indian Uber driver last weekend. What must be a conclusion?
“For decades the common white American was laid back, drinking beer and watching soccer.”
Wrong.
Firstly, no the average American certainly wouldnt be watching soccer.
LOL. You are dating yourself, there. Soccer and lacrosse to a lesser extent are booming. Football is dying outside of a few strongholds. It’s already gone in large swaths of the country. MLB has has in large part lost connection to the “average American” and now has a heavy Latin culture. The times they are changing. Good night.
That is the problem with the well educated and high born of other countries. They KNOW they are better.
As a painting contractor of over 30 years, people from Guam, the phillipinnes, and Caucasasians are easy to work for and please. The Chinese, Middle Easterners, Indians..... You add 50% before you even sharpen your pencil.
Exactly.
Cray, cray writer nurses the chip on her shoulder against Americans and our intention to give no quarter to any visiting or invading racist who despises everything we stand for.
If all these imms had a clue, they could realize that white Americans simply rejected their accompanying baggage: communism, Marxism, socialism, Shariah Law, general ingratitude, disregard, entitlement, and sharp elbows for their host country men and women. Thus, TRUMP.
Thank God.
PRECISELY why the Left is so constantly hysterical about supposed "racism." They don't want anyone realizing people of all races can peaceably live together like they did before 2008. Plus, All Sharpton needs the money.

Its not even close. The most popular sport in America is pro football. The 2nd most popular sport is college football. #3 is the NBA. #4 is high school football. Then comes Major League Baseball, college basketball is probably next then Hockey. Soccer is well below that. Quick! Who was last year's college national champ in soccer? Who the hell knows? Was it even televised? You're living in fantasy land if you think soccer is more than a blip on the radar in the American sports scene. It doesn't remotely compare to football.
