The Dunning-Kruger Epidemic: It's a liberal privilege thing.

It is rampant where I live in the local churches. One worship leader said it best: The more a person knows about the content and history of the bible, the less sure they are of any of their opinions.

And I’ve seen both that and its direct opposite down here in the bible belt. Its opposite is a fascinating thing to experience. It is also called religious bigotry.

I can do a credible job explaining the wisdom of Evolution, Abortion, high taxes, and illegal immigration. I disagree with all of that, but I can tell you why Liberals think they are good.

But flip it around? Do Liberals understand my positions on the above issues? Well: I’m a Nazi. That’s about as far as they can go.

Dunning-Kruger becomes Epidemic in a nation when people are politically correct and not Biblically Correct. There are two solutions to this problem.

1. Establish a totalitarian regime that kills every know-it-all.

2. Get back to being a Biblically Correct nation.

Its been a long time since one article said so much, attacked everyone, yet complimented them at the same time, explained itself, gave examples, pissed you off, then cooled you down, and upon finishing reading the article (this is important), gives you an insight to those who infuriate you, and also illuminates you to why you infuriate others, without offending you or anybody else. Well written, and insightful.

I hope you read the ENTIRE article.

Well done.

This study only turned a well worn axiom into a publication.

In the early 80's, a teacher - Immaculate Heart Sister - educated us in the "arrogance of ignorance", which one can grow out of, if you do not fall to the "ignorance of arrogance".

It has stayed with me for nearly four decades and I am still humbled by the wisdom & dedication of the Sisters...

...and the many, many things I have yet to learn.

I would like to see the author make a slimmed down version of this; one that uses less than 900 words. It could pass as a well-published editorial in like the Wall Street Journal.

A MacArthur Wheeler mindset (case study that inspired the Dunning-Kruger paper) is the natural outcome of modern mass culture. For instance:

In elementary and middle schools, children get participation trophies because "everyone is a winner."

High schools are under pressure to lower academic standards to keep their graduation rates high. Colleges are under pressure to lower academic standards for admission and for graduation to bring in tuition money, and, of course, to make sure that "minority" students can get in and get degrees.

Instead of academic rigor, colleges offer self-esteem courses and "safe spaces" for students.

Social media has created a mindset where everyone can pretend that their Facebook page and Instagram account makes him a celebrity. They can link to celebrity profiles as "friends" to maintain the pretense that they too are famous for being famous.

Computer and video games allow kids to pretend that they're skilled marksmen, fighters, athletes, outdoorsmen, etc all without having to acquire any of the skills necessary to be any of those things.

Is it any wonder that we have a generation of MacArthur Wheeler's running around? All that's missing is the lemon juice.

And I’ve always thought it was just the way of middle management.

Reminds me of the Obama quote about the bitter clingers clinging to their guns and their religion (Christianity). I’m certain Obama wasn’t referring to Muslims who cling to their guns and religion.

People either love President Trump so much they are unwilling to see any wrongdoing or they despise him to the point that they are unwilling to recognize any right-doing.

I'm glad someone is saying this. Much as I despise the GOP establishment never Trumpers and the liberals having conniption fits over Trump, I've always found unconditional adoration of any political figure to be disturbing and un-American. When you're not willing to criticize "your" politician for doing the same things you criticize the other side's politicians for doing, you aren't thinking, you're engaged in North Korean-style worship of a Dear Leader.

Now I'm not.

I grew up in a very strong Union family. The Democrats were “for the working man.

I went to public school.

I attended a very liberal university.

I am a Conservative.

What changed me?

Becoming an Army Officer.

But, becoming an Army Officer doesn’t make everyone who does it Conservative.

I know many Liberal Army Officers.

Sometimes, reality just smacks you upside your head and you learn from it.

Instead of academic rigor, colleges offer self-esteem courses and "safe spaces" for students. Too many kids getting out of high school and college who appear to have majored in self esteem. And they all got participation Ph.D.'s in it.

I like to tell these “self-esteem” types that if they’re going to insist on being arrogant, they first need some substantial achievements to be arrogant about. They missed a step.

And for those that would argue that our country was established as a “secular” country...

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion . . . Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” John Adams

” Religion and morality are the essential pillars of civil society.” George Washington

“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.” Benjamin Franklin

“The moral principles and precepts contained in the scriptures ought to form the basis of all our civil constitutions and laws. . . All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery, and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible.” Noah Webster

“Whereas true religion and good morals are the only solid foundations of public liberty and happiness . . . it is hereby earnestly recommended to the several States to take the most effectual measures for the encouragement thereof.” Continental Congress 1778

“Human law must rest its authority ultimately upon the authority of that law which is divine. . . . Far from being rivals or enemies, religion and law are twin sisters, friends, and mutual assistants. Indeed, these two sciences run into each other.” James Wilson (signer of the Constitution and U.S. Supreme Court Justice)
