I’m sure you are correct; however, I do think the larger point is that the anecdotal examples you provide, along with actual reported incidents clearly show that pit bulls seemed to be predisposed to attack a human, to the point of death. The other incidents involving other breeds are far more uncommon and those cases that do arise more often than not involve small children or infants.
The point is that, far and away, the evidence clearly demonstrates that pit bulls are an unstable breed that simply should never ever be fully trusted and possibly outlawed.
Blackwood said Stephens had left the dogs with her father. The indoor dogs were then held up outside "in the cold" in a small kennel. Stephens would return home about five times a week to see the canines.

This is the big problem and the adoption shelters are making a lot of money SELLING pit bull mixes to people.
Many animal shelters are bringing in dogs from various places around the country and world. They then SELL(rehome) them to some family. Many of these mutts are pitbull mixes. However, they tell you they are a lab mix. They also tell you to register it as a lab mix. FYI many homeowner insurance companies will drop you from coverage if they know you have a pitbull, german shepard, Doberman, etc. IF you have one and get sued they will not cover you.
Lastly, the shelters are for profit enterprises. They make money reselling dogs, cats. There are always plenty of cats. However, in the northeastern US there is not a problem with unwanted puppies. That is because most do owners are responsible and spay or neuter the canine. This is not the case in the south central part of the country. Therefore, most of the dogs in the northeast are trucked in from Miss, Al, La, etc. They also bring in dogs from the Carribean. This has led to canines infected with parvo and even rabies.
I have a chocolate lab, and I trust her with my 6yo son.
She’ll sit beside him or lay at his feet. I’ve seen times while on walks where she’ll put herself between my son and another dog or even another person (other than my wife or myself) to protect him.

I don’t consider myself to be an apologist for pit bulls. Their is no doubt that these animals are inherently dangerous. I don’t recommend owning them as they demand lots of training and attention. If a person is not up to the task of responsible ownership of these animals, than perhaps they should chose to own a chihuahua or something similar.
Just one more form of virtue signaling.
We had a sheriff’s deputy as a friend for decades.
He said pit bulls were more dangerous than pistols and knives in homes.
They often attacked the owners, the children in the family and some times strangers. Their attacks were often unpredictable.
He said that, Drug dealers after a prison term and parole cannot have a gun. So they buy a couple of pit bulls to replace the guns they can’t have anymore.
Whenever, he or a fellow LEO had to put down a dangerous Pit Bull, they caught bloody hell from other pit bull cult members and the bambi lovers for killing innocent animal.
There’s a woman near us who has a pit bull like that. She has zero control over it. It goes nuts whenever anyone goes by-flipping over as it reaches the end of the chain. She just stands there telling it to be quiet over and over while the dog ignores her. It goes crazy inside the house as well. If it ever breaks through the storm door or gets off the chain, someone is going to die. Lots of kids in our small town and she’s two doors down from the elementary playground.
Agree with every word you wrote. And there’s no contradiction in being an animal lover and thinking we should let pit bulls die out. I love people, but I think we need to put certain people in prison for life!

Exactly, after a couple of scary close encounters like you mentioned above, I will not walk in a great park that is really close to our downtown and the critters, two legged and four legged that live there.
Our sheriff will approve a CCW for me. Our personal lawyer said if I used a CCW weapon to defend my self outside my home , I could be another Zimmerman.
I don’t for a minute understand why the deputies did not shoot these dogs on sight... It blows my mind they waited for Animal Control to take them away.... These dogs should have been having their last breath the minute ANY armed human stumbled upon them.... Period.
Absolutely agree with almost everything you stated. Pitbulls were bred to fight bulls(intack male bovines) in an enclosed pit. They have a much higher jaw crushing pressure than most other breeds. Therefore, they can kill their victim more effectively than other breeds.

According to this, Pitbulls accounted for 71% of dog bite deaths over a 12 year period. However, Chihuahuas led all other breeds with the highest amount of dog bites. Again, I do not believe there were any deaths attributed to Chihuahuas.
Fear the Standard poodle. Xerxes used them to guard his palace before the time of Christ. Napoleon used them as military dogs with his troops during his military campaigns as attack dogs and security. They hunt and kill prey when trained. The small seven to ten pound versions are descended from these vicious dogs.

The entire breed should be exterminated...................
