Staffies are not pit bulls. I am talking about real, registered Staffies. Pit bulls are mixed bull dog lines plus who knows what. There are people that breed pits, but they don’t have long pedigrees going back to England like the Staffordshire does. Also Jack Russells are not Rat Terriers. Two different breeds with a common heritage. All dogs can be dangerous under some circumstances, but pits are in their own class. I sure don’t want one and I am very experienced with giant breeds.
>The victims photo is of a young lady with crazy eyes
Probably looked at them the wrong way with them crazy eyes
“The victims photo is of a young lady with crazy eyes.”
She’s on meth. Crazy look, dilated eyes, exaggerated expression...reminds me of my parents.
See, I got two additional replies to this thread without even having to invite from the previous (but slightly different) post:)
My Chihuahua is vicious enough!................
Our daughter is showing up Friday with her pit bull. I think this is her third. Pandas ok.
I think we got one of those small mixed breed ones from a rescue. probably 20#s They pedaled it as a jack Russell. It had a tinge of pit look. Drew blood on my wife in the first couple days we had it. It went bat guano crazy over ?? Just snapped, seconds later you wouldn’t have known it was the same dog. When we returned it we found out it had been returned before. They said they were going to send it for more training, again.
Thank you for reminding everyone of the facts of this case.
To put it bluntly, SHE was the one at fault. She abused and neglected the dogs, so is it really surprising that they turned on her? She was not the loving, devoted owner that people are portraying her to be.
My cousin and her husband have several Pit Bulls living on their property. Theyve had them for years and have had no problems with them because the dogs are loved and well cared for.
Teacup Chihuahua then? Might that be a good hybrid with a pit bull? Need to get pit bulls down to about the size of a football...or a shoe.
Or maybe with genetic engineering, pit bulls could be effectively lobotomized, DNA-wise. Docile as lambs. We could leave those large. ;-)
It is possible to breed viciousness out of a dog line.
English Bulldogs were once vicious and mean, but now they are just big lumps of wrinkled fur.....But it took 50 years..................
People who knew her keep saying “she had a lot of experience with dogs”. She was 22, in my opinion too young to know how to be an efficient dog handler, which is very different than a “dog lover”.
There are a lot of hard core K9 handlers who would 100% agree with you (people I know, and people who write articles on this). They feel the breed has essentially had the brains bred out of them, and it’s time to phase out the breed.
Dont make rash generalizations about a certain part of the country.
I live in Alabama and my dogs are spayed, neutered and are up to date on their shots.
I’m sure your law enforcement friend was right, except I had to laugh at, “Drug dealers after a prison term and parole cannot have a gun.” Somehow, I don’t think obeying gun laws is the only reason they own pit bulls.
First off, has anyone replying to this thread even looked at photos of these dogs? They’re not pitbulls. One is a Great Dane, the other is a brindled mixed breed that doesn’t look all that bully, I don’t see much indication of being crossed with a pit at all.
Secondly, she’d been getting death threats, this was known to several people.
Third, there was a reply to the woman’s FaceBook page, before it was even known that she was dead, stating something to the effect of “how does it feel to be killed by something lower than you?” Screen name contained “Lopez.” FReeper Salamander can verify, she saw it.
And finally, she had one of those Virgin Mary cameo-looking tattoos that are associated with Mexican gangs. Seems to me that this might explain a few things, combined with the fact that she’d gotten engaged. “Lopez” felt shunned because he was lower than her, maybe words were exchanged. She broke it off with a bad boy who was worse than she knew.
I want to see the coroner’s report. I refuse to look at the crime scene photos. If she was decapitated I’ll suspect gang killing for sure. I don’t think that the horrific injuries she experienced can be attributed to her dogs, one way or the other, not by a coroner.
I have a neighbor who walks a pit bull on a leash. If this were not the case (i.e., allowed to roam off leash), I would drop a dime on the pit owner (if I knew how). I’m sure he neglected to share the dog’s breed with his insurance company. Pit bull owners are in deep denial.
There is no AKC registered breed that is a Pitbull Terrier. However, Staffies are their closest AKC breeds.
According to Wikipedia:
[edit]
American Staffordshire Terrier
Despite its name, the Staffordshire Terrier’s ancestor (Bull and Terrier) was first bred in the nineteenth century in Birmingham, West Midlands, rather than in the English county of Staffordshire where it was then later bred. The early ancestors of this breed came from England where, until the first part of the 19th century, the Bulldog was bred. Bulldogs pictured as late as 1870 resemble contemporary American Staffordshire Terriers to a greater degree than present-day Bulldogs. Some writers contend it was the White English Terrier, Fox Terrier, or the Black and Tan Terrier that was crossed with the Bulldog to develop the Staffordshire Bull Terrier; all three breeds shared many traits, the greatest differences being in color and spirit. The cross of Bulldog and Terrier was called by several names, including Bull-and-Terrier Dog, “Pit Bull Terrier” (Bull terrier used to fight on pit), or Half and Half.[5] Later, it assumed the name of Staffordshire Bull Terrier in England. These dogs began to find their way into America as early as 1850. Became a new breed and was recognized by the United Kennel Club in 10 February, 1898, with the name American Pit Bull Terrier. In 1936 some pit bulls were accepted for registration in the American Kennel Club (AKC) Stud Book as Staffordshire Terriers with a new standard and purpose, belonging to the terrier and molosser groups. The name of the breed was revised January 1, 1969 to American Staffordshire Terrier; breeders in the United States had developed a variety which was heavier in weight than the Staffordshire Bull Terrier of England. The name change was to distinguish them as separate breeds
Parsons Russell Terriers, Jack Russell Terriers and Rat Terriers were all bred to kill vermin by chasing it down into their burrow. I realize that the AKC recognizes them as different breeds. They are all very similar and closely related.
I killed one that came after me...in my own back yard!
A full clip from a 1911..
It was loaded 1 snake shot, one regular 45...etc
It went over like a sack of potatoes.
I am not making generalizations. It is a fact that most of the dogs resold by animal shelters come from the south central part of the US.
That does not mean that they also come from the slums of Detroit, Chicago the south Bronx and other poor communities.
Generally people like me and you that are middle class to upper middle class vaccinate, spay, neuter and take care of our pets. Poor people do not. There are more poor people in Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Alabama, Missouri as a percentage than there are in New England.
