IN ONE OF the most incisive pieces of post-election pop culture so far, Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock on Saturday Night Live school an election night party full of blithely ignorant white liberals on the deep, persistent currents of American racism.
Because of changing demographics, there might never be another Republican president in this country, cast member Beck Bennett says in the sketch.
Chappelle glares at him, dumbfounded. Word? he says. You ever been around this country before?
The gag of course is the fact that, as a black man, Chappelle has seen the country at its ugliest, its least inclusive, so he can understand how a candidate like Donald Trump, with his hardline stance on immigration and tough-on-crime policies, might just succeed. Bennetts character is still living in his white liberal bubble.
And yet its not a bubble formed entirely by delusions. Even as the Electoral College votes today to make Trump president, the United States is becoming more liberal. Just look at the data.
Over the eight years Barack Obama has served as president, public opinion in the United States has shifted decisively leftward. Think about it. When Obama came to office, he still hadnt publicly supported same sex marriage. Last year, the White House was lit up in rainbow colors to celebrate the Supreme Courts decision to legalize same-sex marriage. Over the last year, bottom line-driven businesses have boycotted entire states over discriminatory policies against LGBT people. A law prohibiting transgender people from using the bathroom of their choice just cost North Carolinas Pat McCrory the governorship. Undocumented immigrants have come out of hiding, banding together online to discuss their struggles. And in November, California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nevada all voted to make recreational marijuana legal.

Then why bother being on free republic?
It’s so temporary but it sure brings out a lot in humanity
That is only the beginning for them. They don't give a crap about marriage, it's all about the State officially sanctioning Homosexuality as being on par with Heterosexuality.
Obama is a wasted eight years.
The fool author does not get it. It was ALWAYS about putting money in his pocket and accumulating his personal power.
Eight years of NOTHING. Eight years of waste.
the author is also to stupid to see the democrat party LOST MORE state legislatures.
establish politicians see homosexuals as easy money.
My point (I think) is not that a person shouldn’t enjoy life. It’s that that while liberals think they can control the world and shape it to their collective will, with the end goal of achieving their so-called utopia, it’s still temporary. It’s the next world that should concern them, but they completely ignore instead. Like Jesus said, what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his own soul?
Yes per political theorists humanity has evolved from theocentric Godhead humanity to anthroprocentric Manhead humanity to messianic New Man Head humanity....best exemplified as a the new man who needs little fulfillment beyond basics provided by the state and he is the new God
That was very Cliff notes
Needless to say you and I are mired in theocentric...with a foot in anthro
Merry Christmas
Anthroprocentric would be Hobbes and the enlightenment crowd
Christians are more concerned with the hereafter ....than fixing here
Though good works does poke out its head a good it and gets usurped by fake Christians and others
You can’t be a proggie without an illusion of historical inevitability and a conviction that you’ve got the whole thing decoded. This accounts for their perpetual sense of disappointment.
Humanism, basically. That mankind is no more than an animal having no spiritual aspect. It’s the religion of the Left, and deeply flawed. There is a spiritual battle against the flesh that we all must fight, and to just surrender to the animal side of us represents the ultimate failure. That’s what they want. It’s what the devil wants. It isn’t the road to utopia that some imagine it is.
I am constantly amazed at how quickly proggies will swallow a huge lie (like global warming) and how stubbornly they refuse to believe the truth (like the free market system being the most efficient).
