Because Americans voted for a deadlocked government in 2012. Instead the Republicans gave everything that Obama asked for and put the country on the fast track to destruction. Trump sees the elite are screwing the backbone of America. It was his wakeup call.

Ummm, he did run. However there wasn’t much support for him then.

Trump stated a long time ago that only in the case of the nation being in serious danger he had no interest in being a politician...it is a demotion you know.

After Obama ran and won then after Mitt’s loss Trump made the decision to run.

That is accurate and truthful...

The Tea Party was just getting started. It was the realization that the “anger” was bigger than expected. He registered “Make America Great Again” shortly after the last election. He saw the wave forming.

So we should root for a Trump victory and the democrats retaking the house and senate. That would guarantee the people get what they want.

You said 30,000 employees is a full time job. So was it a full time job then and not now?

If you were paying attention instead of being an Internet snark, you would know what what Trump has done with his business. It's not my job to educate the ignorant.

Maybe he hadn’t finish his transformation from pro-abortion, New York liberal to fake conservative by then?

Because he thought Mitt was serious about winning?

An honest question? I doubt it more like a sly dig posed as an "honest question"

As has been pointed out already it was the way he conducted himself in the 2012 election that showed Romney to be a choke artist. Unless Donald Trump had a time machine of some sort how would he know this in advance, did you?

“Who has 30k employees?”

It sure as hell is not Cruz or Rubio. I doubt if they have even had one in their lifetime.

There is a time for everyone. Maybe Trump didn’t feel the time was right. I do know this; Romney faced a man who was more disliked than Jimmy Carter and Reagan buried him! Romney DID choke. He won the first debate and then punted the last two, giving the incompetent novice the openings he needed, and with the help of Candi Crowley, he allowed her to insert her defense of the president even thought she was a MODERATOR and had NO BUSINESS defending him. Romney had no excuse for losing. He had the deck stacked in his favor and yet he lost by his own strategies. He should just shut up because he doesn’t know how to win and Trump does.

Asking a negative hypothetical question to prove something that didn't happen, is a non-sequitur.

There is no way to know why Trump didn't run in 2012 except by asking him. Why would his supporters know the answer to a question like that?

Premising the hypothetical question with a biased statement about both Romney and Trump is disingenuous.

A more appropriate question to ask is, why didn't Romney win an election that should have been a cakewalk?

Ifa, woulda, coulda, shoulda.....

The topic came up in a 1988 interview with Opera. Trump was asked recently why he decided to run now. He said that he wanted to be certain the his three children were old enough to run the business successfully. if you own your own business, you would understand his reasoning.

I asked a simple question. You won’t answer. Didn’t really think it was that hard. But apparently it is.

Doesn’t matter - millions of Republicans didn’t vote then ‘cause they didn’t like Mitt, millions of Republicans won’t vote now ‘cause they don’t like Donald - same result - another ‘rat administration takes us further over the cliff......

Yes I am. You said 30,000 employees is a full time job. So was it a full time job then and not now?

His three grown children are now fully matured, married and in their 30s and much more capable of taking over the business; his daughter Tiffany is almost ready to graduate from college, and his son Barron is now 9 or 10, but was just a baby then.

Oh God no, not another “honest question” about DT!!

He has never said why that I’m aware of. I suspect it has more to do with his business and personal life than anything political. An obvious possibility is that he just didn’t think his kids were ready to take over the business yet. I think Don jr. Is the oldest at 35 and Eric and Ivanka are younger. That’s a pretty young bunch to take over a multibillion dollar empire.

It might come as a shock to FReepers but being President will be one helluva pay cut for DT. And debatable whether its any more prestigious than being head of the Trump Organization.
