Report: Playboy Will No Longer Publish Nude Photos (Yes, you read that right)
NBC News ^ | Oct 13, 2015 | Reuters News Service

Founder and editor-in-chief Hugh Hefner, 89, who in his trademark silk pajamas has embodied the Playboy lifestyle, agreed last month with a suggestion by top editor Cory Jones to stop publishing images of naked women, the Times said.

At a time when every teenage boy has an Internet connected phone and the web is rife with pornography, the magazine has opted to continue featuring women in provocative poses, just not completely nude, the Times said.

"You're now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free," Flanders was quoted as saying in the Times. "And so it's just passe at this juncture."

The magazine that featured Marilyn Monroe on its debut cover in 1953 is making the changes after circulation dropped from 5.6 million in 1975 to about 800,000 now, the Times said.

After its initial success, the magazine was attacked from the political right because of the nudity and from the left by feminists who said it reduced women to sex objects.

Some changes are still under debate, including whether there will continue to be a centerfold. Playboy magazine's sex columnist will be a woman, who writes enthusiastically about sex, Jones told the Times.

The magazine has always had intellectual appeal with top writers such as Kurt Vonnegut, Joyce Carol Oates, Vladimir Nabokov, James Baldwin and Alex Haley for men who liked to say they did not buy the magazine just for the pictures.

i suppose it is beyond obvious at this point but..
1. they are right. naked girls are everywhere, so playboy isnt really controversial at this point.
2. naked women will never, ever be "passé" unless, like hefner you are 89 years old. you just cant make money off of it like when it was a 'controlled substance'
3. not much point in reading playboy then is there? thats why their circulation numbers suck. had hefner actually been smart he would have sold playboy a long time ago. his 'empire' is beyond its shelf life and will die with him.

As this was read, the urge to search “Will No Longer Publish Nude Photos” of WOMEN was not found. It was thought the headlines were only a trick to inform the public the mag had decided to move beyond the realm and publish photos of nude males....after all, in this day and age.....

Sigh, what a pity for the young boys in the future. What will they do and where will they be forced to find what they seek?

I always bought it for the articles.
Yeah, yeah, that's what we all say. That's why I used to sneak into my uncle's stash of Playboys when I was an adolescent punk. ;)

They'll find pr0n on the internet.

But in my opinion, the real tragedy of this change in Playboy is the loss of RESOLUTION.

Playboy centerfolds were carefully done photographic artworks (at least, long ago they were, I haven't looked at a centerfold in 20 years). They had some careful airbrushing and such, but overall they were very high resolution film photos, not digital. And as such, they could be used as lessons in how to do photography of the human body.

The pr0n on the internet is a travesty, in terms of photographic quality.

And that is IMO the biggest shame of this turn of events.

I once worked for Penthouse here in Beverly Hills and unlike the liberals at Playboy, I surprisingly found a lot of pro American staffers whom I still know today.

We all love the fine American culture of looking at naked hot women :) Unlike the newfound push for disgusting faggotry by the left of today.

Ignored is the possibility that the magazine sales plummeted because of the hard left turn it mad decades back.. I certainly got disgusted with the leftist slant to everything, great pictorial content was not enough.

Going from reviewing jazz/rock albums to reviews of video games to appeal to gen-X/Y/Z was just guaranteed to chase away traditional readers.

That Hefner is a sleazy liberal that has hosted many democrat fundraising parties should have killed the rag outright.

The pendulum has begun to swing in a new direction. This is just further evidence. Many of us have lived through the entire swing of the pendulum toward cultural filth that began in the early 1950's with the first edition of Playboy magazine.

1953 - 2015:
An Era of Cultural Decline

2015 - ????:
A New Era of Cultural Redemption

Most of us welcome the change!

Hef has admitted to "experimenting" with being bisexual in his younger days.

He once wrote a story called "The Crooked Man" which portrayed a society where gay men were the "norm" and persecuted heterosexual men.

He wrote it as a defense of gay rights, of which he's always been a supporter.

What would one title such a magazine? “Errand Boy”? “No’n!”?
“Bore House”? “Fuss’ler”? or “Muzzle’ler”

Playboy has the past 10 years become like any other so called men’s magazine

Run by faggots and fembots and ultra liberal

Some like Playboy and Maxim and Esquire started out interesting but the politically correct media dominated by fags and harridans is like the Borg

Penthouse survives as a shadow of the Guccione era....mostly silly articles and hard core porn now

There are no real mens mags
