Fans have been left shocked by disturbing footage of John Lennon mocking disabled people.
The Beatles legend was an inspiration to many, but over the years his darker side has been revealed - and TV show It Was Alright In The 1960s has brought him back under fire.

No. He was not gunned down right after his statement about Jesus. The two incidents were unrelated.
Lennon stated that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus in the 1960s (may have been a true statement unfortunately). He was gunned down in 1980 by a wacked out crazy dude. You must be a young fellow. :-)
This is very old news. Lennon was certainly no saint and pretty much every biography of him mentions this part of his personality. He thought all of those screaming people were retards, which is why he was doing that.
Everybody’s known this forever. He spoke about it openly.
He was actually a nice guy when he didn’t drink. Alcohol was poison for him. Sort of like Mel Gibson. He’d go schizo. The Beatles actually were happy when Yoko got him messing with heroin. It calmed him down. Sad.
Hopefully, he got a nice shot of that up his sinuses.
Also, kinda looked like Jerry Lewis when he does his silly stuff.
I have been guilty of that and more. I am NOT PC. I love the mockery of some comics like Don Rickles. I do try to not insult people but sometimes that is not possible.
Exactly. I'm not PC, either, and I have almost no patience for those who are. Yes, it's the pansy nation I mentioned, or as Rush calls it, the chickification of our world.
I think it was stupid and juvenile but this was also the time when “ my name is Jose Hermanez” was a mockery on the Ed Sullivan show....and we all laughed...
He was dumber than cow tracks. That godless skank he married is Exhibit-A.
AFAWK, Lennon died rejecting Christ. I wonder what he thinks of his sweet-sounding, seductive song “IMAGINE” now.
Be not deceived. God is not mocked.....
Many of the jokes go undetected from this movie.
My personal favorite is John saying under his breath about the character of Victor Spinetti (a gay actor) who is going home to his wife: “He has a wife? Have you seen his sweater?” The other 3 boys guffaw. That John - he was a quick wit.
“John Lennon gets six bullets in the chest.
Yoko is standing right next to him and NOT ONE SINGLE BULLET!!!
Explain THAT to me!”
Satan didn’t want Yoko just yet?
Actually, Chapman just wanted to kill someone famous so that he could also be famous. Ted Kennedy was also on the list, but Chapman found Lennon more accessible. Say what you will about Lennon, but I wish it had been Ted instead.
[Domestic abuse was never okay but in the 50-60s jokes about spastics and learning impared people were common. Look at some of the comedians like Jerry Lewis. They were never kind but thats how it was]
Projecting ‘15 PC values on ‘60’s cultures is just a way to tear down cultural icons. Tear down icons, destroy history, make connection to the past disappear is part of Marxist philosophy.
The is why the is no good comedy anymore, we can’t laugh at ourselves, the PC police have an outrage group for every slight. ( no good comedy anymore except South Park of course) LOL
I know for a fact that in his last years at the Dakota he watched the 700 Club and other TV Christians every day. I don't know if that was just a phase, or what.
Yes, people understood and appreciated a sense of humor back then and didn’t get stupidly offended and bent out of shape about silly stuff like this.
Uh, Lewis wrote, directed and played “The Nutty Professor.” An eccentric professor on a spoof of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The character has no relationship to a “retard.”
IIRC, they first got into pot while in Hamburg.
LOL, even Satan has standards.
And at least he was a supporter of the right Liverpool football club, Everton.
Good post.
I wasn’t much of a Lennon fan but I liked the song “revolution” where he calls out the phonies in the anti-war movement.
I am familiar with the clip. No big deal. It was the Beatles and Lennon’s attempt at humor. While he was a big time lib for his time I still take into account that they are musicians and don’t pay much heed to their comments, actions, etc.............with exception Ted Nugent..........yessssssssss!
