Fossil-Fuel Emissions Causing Huge Impact on Radiocarbon Dating

Radiocarbon dating which is used to estimate the age of every particular thing on earth is facing big threat from the fossil fuel and carbon in the atmosphere. Researchers said excess of carbon in atmosphere due to burning of fossil fuel could reduce the accuracy of Radiocarbon dating.

Heather Graven, a climate-physics researcher at Imperial College London, after an analysis has found that emissions from fossil fuels are artificially raising the carbon age of the atmosphere.

...

"Combustion of fossil fuels is diluting the fraction of atmospheric carbon dioxide containing radiocarbon. This is making the atmosphere appear as though it has aged or lost radiocarbon by radioactive decay occurring over time."

It was always kind of suspect anyway, wasn’t it?

Okay. This one made me laugh out loud.

Suspect? That is putting it mildly.

So all those centuries of spewing volcanoes have nothing to do with it?

We must all revert to communism immediately so that radiocarbon dating will go back to its former razor-sharp accuracy.

After all, the kind of second-rate affirmative-action scientists we have these days have no idea how to use mathematics to correct for slow changes in background data.

So what, we’re not carbon dating the atmosphere.

Not exactly.

About ten percent of the remaining population will rule from air-conditioned mansions, and be served filet mignon on their private jets.

The other 90 percent of the remaining population will live on subsistence agriculture. Right down to the grass huts.

“Remaining” after what, you ask? Don’t know, but it’s going to be ugly.

Notice to world:

Turn all your volcanoes OFFF immediately!

Penalties are coming (descised as tax).

Yes, and corrections are made.

I am sure that they are keeping detailed records to pass on to future generations for the appropriate corrections.

Which are significantly [meaning, like 12 orders of magnitude] cheaper than the trillions of dollars needed for remediation if C14 dating is our major concern.

Sure it does. All that wood burning and wale oil burning in the past didn't cause any pollution or carbon in the atmosphere.

CO2 is absorbed by the ocean and plants quicker than we can produce it. It isn't pollution it is plant food.

Someone in the future may want to carbon date your fossils.
