Deadwood is better, but Rome is pretty damn good. Thanks for the heads-up.

Rent the BBC's I Claudius mini series. I think you'll find it's better (if you can get past Picard being Caligula's henchman, Sejanus).

Then read the books. They're better still.

You'll love what Livia has to do to get Augustus.

Thanks! I'm already planning to set the DVR for it since the "live" version shows scenes from next week and the HBO on Demand doesn't.

I'm wondering how Servilia is going to use the info about who fathered Niobe's son.

Also, I knew that historically, Octavian cared for his sister, but DAMN...

I was VERY disappointed in those kids! I really didn't think either one of them would do it.

And Ceasar is gonna be piiiiiised about what was done to Servilia.

Gee, I just wonder who could have set that deal up???

I LOVE this show! And Pullo's slave really needs to loosen up. The poor man needs some real lovin'.

My first thought at the end of tonight's episode was, "I have to ask Ms. Elliott if she thinks Servilia will swallow her pride and clue Caesar in on what Atia had done to her."

Well?

I read the two "I Claudius" books thirty years ago, when the series first came out on PBS. Most rewarding reading and viewing.

I Claudius got me started on reading over 3,000 pages of Roman history up through AD 69. It was excellent and one of the best things I've seen on TV.

I think this one is better. I like the way it's showing the centurian and the soldier's private lives and showing battle from the commoner's perspective. I hope it has many seasons.

You know, I don't think Atia had that done...I think it was Octavian. Seemed to me that it was a bit more "finessed" that Atia's usual MO. Maybe?

LOL -- I remember Patrick Steward wearing a rug for that role.

(IIRC, he lost his hair in his twenties. He wishes that somebody back then had mentioned how sexy women would find the resulting look.)

I don't think Servilia will tell him. But he will find out.

I thought it was interesting that they made a point of showing the look on Timon's face. He was NOT happy about this particular event. Wonder what he's gonna do about it?

As soon as he stops thinking with his John Thomas...he may actually be in a position to...or be motivated to do harm to the vile wench Atia.
Servilia at least has something of an excuse for her behavior. Atia is simply evil and I think Timon realizes this. But then, he may have actually precipitated this course of events. Was it actually he who told Servilia about who killed Octavia's husband? Hmmmm.

Though I doubt it will happen. The series seems to be on the fast track towards March 15th, 44BC. Only 3 episodes left.

BTW...off topic...check out my latest digital handiwork.

I think it was Octavian.

Interesting. Could be. But I think Octavian is a lot more pissed at his mum than Servilia at the moment. Perhaps he IS thinking 3 moves ahead and will now sit back and watch what befalls Atia as a result of this latest assault on Servilia.

He's a sneaky little bugger. He could be Emperor one day.
Yeah, that's the ticket. He could be, Emp..eror. And he could call himself...Caesar Augustus.
