In a week and a day, I'll no longer be living in NYC.

Finally, after so long, I'm moving down south, to South Carolina. Got a job, signed a lease on an apartment, and I'm gonna get my first car down there. Things are looking up, and I hope that down the line, I'm making the right decision.

Welcome to SC buddy. I fled Ct to live here. It’s paradise.

Take a breath and slow down. There’s no rush. Learn to enjoy the pleasantries. Commenting on the weather is a door opener. Learn to say, yes ma’am and no sir. Try the shrimp and grits. It’s awesome. Get a subscription to Guns and Gardens

Definitely the right decision. You will hate the humid summers and mosquitoes, but the freedom will be worth every bit of that and you will soon learn when it is time to lock yourself in the house under the AC until the humidity returns to normal and the mosquitoes disappear until next summer.

People for the most part are nice and friendly so get to know your neighbors and let them know you might not have been born southern but you got here as soon as you could!

Yes. The wonderful thing about the Murdaugh murder trial was listening to the people talk. The trial was a great display of the native SC dialect. Music to my ears. Lilting. Idiosyncratic. I hope Alex gets a new trial so I can watch it again. Two guns? There has never been a killing where the murderer uses two guns.

I have had and made grits many times over the years, always liked them OK with eggs and bacon.
Recently, our Daughter-in-law made Shrimp and Cheese Grits for us...now I am a big fan!

It’s a big decision, if you have spent the time doing the research on the area you should be fine. I just moved from Pennsylvania to Texas last week but the wife and I have been planning this for more than three years; researching the area, planning the trip, getting the house sold - it was a major undertaking for us.

Heh, I miss those things from my time going over there. Now, I’m into Tex-Mex, mesquite wood fires and driving 75-80 mph on the highways and having the police give me a friendly wave 😁

Goodness you needed someone to show you how to eat Grits. Plain Grits are bland. You must dress them with lots of sugar and butter. Try it again.

Here’s to Tin Pan Alley,
A Yankee Rally,
A show like “Sally,”
And notwithstanding Rand McNally,
There’s only one Broadway
On the map of the U.S.A.
Let’s tell the gang we’re coming
Back to old-fashioned kisses and modern plumbing,
I’ve got those I’m-so-homesick blues.

I miss Marilyn Miller in “Sunny,”
Jolson down on one knee,
Mary Garden and Gatti-Casazza,
Lovely evenings at the Plaza,
Watching a fighter like Dundy,
Cheering for May Bundy,
Nora Bayes in a bill at the Palace,
Teddy Roosevelt’s daughter Alice,
Theda Bara,
Fiske O’Hara,
Palais Royal,
Standard Oil,
Man O’ War,
Barrymore,
Fritzi Scheff,
Mutt and Jeff.
Belmont Track,
Cracker Jack.
We’ve stayed away too long
From gals like Sophie Tucker.
Texas Guinan won’t be wrong
With that greeting: “Hello, sucker!”

Here’s to Valentino,
The Park Casino,
The big Bambino,
The cigarettes called Melachrino,
Give me that old mainstem
And a song by the great George M.
I feel my heart beat faster
Anywhere in the neighborhood of the Astor,
I’ve got those I’m-so-homesick blues. Last Update: Jun

Butter and sugar are fine for the morning time but you need honey and salt for the afternoon snack 😋

You’re leaving a leftist, illegal immigrant infested, police-hating, leftist craphole. Of course you’re making the right decision. The only way it could be wrong is if you were moving to Chicago, SF, St. Louis, or any other democrat run dump.

Be prepared for culture shock.

When I got married and we moved from Buffalo to a small town in CNY, it was like getting off a fast moving train into a wall of jello. Just relax and learn to slow down.

Going from city to country is a whole different mentality and that was still in NYS.

AS a Southern gal who almost remembers the Civil War. Traveled and lived in all the states. I have missed being a Southern woman and sad that I will be buried in WV. It’s not Southern, but close. You got the language. I still have it.
