Disclaimer: I am a person who believes that women have free will. Some of the following statements by me may seem controversial, but I am operating under the assumption that women have free will.
The recent New Yorker article on Eric Schneiderman’s alleged abuse of four women states:
“They allege that he repeatedly hit them, often after drinking, frequently in bed and never with their consent.”
If these intelligent, strong willed, college educated women with high paying jobs and expensive apartments in Manhattan continued to go to bed with Schneiderman “repeatedly,” “often,” and “frequently,” after the first time that he allegedly hit them, I’m having trouble understanding how any of this was “never with their consent.”
None of these women have accused Schneiderman of kidnapping them.
I think each of these woman did the following cost-benefit analysis in her head:
“On the one hand, this guy is a physically abusive scumbag, and I should probably stop going to bed with him.”
“On the other hand, he is famous and wealthy, and he has a lot of influence and social status. So I should continue going to bed with him.”
So it seems to me that these women looked at their options, and they apparently decided that continuing to go to bed with him was a good idea.
It seems to me that if we are to view these women as victims, then we are essentially saying that they do not have free will. And that is not something that I am willing to accept.
You can get mad at me if you want. You can hate me if you want. But I still maintain my belief that women have free will.
If anyone disagrees with me on this, please explain why in the comment section.
Well, leave it to freepers to get off topic on an important subject (wrecking the career of entrenched, corrupt Dems!) when the more exciting topic of bashing women is raised. I’ve never seen it fail here.
Because power, position, money.
Battered woman syndrome
Like it or not it is a real thing
Both wrong.
ronniesgal is not a victim. These sick predators sniff out and pursue the women with weaknesses. Trust me, pervs have checked you out before and moved on. They can sense who is a victim and who is not. They move along when they get near a non victim type. Not worth it to them.
I worried about my daughter when she was younger and living in Philly. She said to me, “Besides having plenty of common sense, I exude a very serious don’t screw with me attitude and they know it. And they move on”
My niece OTOH is just the opposite, she has no common sense or kick ass attitude and they can sense it.
Threads and conversations quickly zoom off into the ether on tangents.
If everyone would just listen to me this wouldn’t happen.

Isn’t that the truth. Some are apparently more interested in making a social statement than helping Trump.
Dan from Squirrel Hill is a libertarian who assumes that demonic liberal power-mongers are completely normal people as long as you treat them well.
He’s wrong. Assume otherwise. The monster got caught.
Oh puhleaze, no man should make excuses for this pig of a bully of a creep. Don’t worry I’ll go over and say it at the blog too. There may be *some logic* to what our author is saying (and these dames are big libs too, for sure, maybe they wanted to stick with Schneiderman just ‘cause he was doing his part to keep abortion legal) but that is really not the point.
And as a woman I have to say that sometimes I think men (even good guys) don’t realize how intimidating they can be. Physically and psychologically. Plus, just remember, it’s hard to think about calling the cops on the AG of NY. Or even Harvey Weinstein, I mean look what happens when you do, noted conservatives who should be cheering their enemies demise go all devil’s advocate on you.
No, the point is spot on.
Disregarding free will, or its value for the individual, is the philosophical groundwork for progressivism.
Once in a while there will be a trickle of liberals catching on to the whole thing.
You can have free will and still be vulnerable to positive or negative conditioning [or combinations of both], either by a dominant personality or even by someone with a submissive personality, if they are sufficiently manipulative and figure out your weaknesses. If people were not vulnerable to conditioning, then they would be unable to learn anything.
Proverbs 22:6... Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
“Glad he is washed up.” How great is it? It is great. Weinstein too. Most gratifying.
The harder they come, the harder they fall, one and all.
Probably for the same reasons the Progressives voted for Benghazi Clinton: they are insane or they are stupid or they love to be beaten or they were dropped on their heads repeatedly by their mothers.
“Indeed he has threatened them. Also, the women’s fellow lib/coimmies urged them not to say anything to keep solidarity with the neo Communist cause. We are dealing with a terrible cult here. “
Yes, that’s right, you point out some very important things. And look, Jane Mayer who worked on this story is one of the biggest libs on the planet. If she’s got her name on this she believes it to be true beyond all doubt I’m sure.
“Pretty effin stupid.”
THANK YOU!
“Intellectual exercise => Should we do things that a) help the dems; or b) hurt the dems?”
Waving hand frantically at teacher....I know! I know! I know!!!
He’s guilty of not allowing a reporter, who was in his car, to exit the vehicle. That’s kidnapping.
He also hit a woman during their first physical interaction. She never saw him again but didnt press charges because of his position.
You can ignore the long term relationships, those two incidents are enough to push him out of office.
He sounds like a creep & it also sounds consensual. Only the people involved really know.
Are you suggesting that Schneiderman quit that all powerful position because he is innocent? H E L L O...
Men like Schneiderman are well practiced in the art of using and abusing... that is who they are to the core... No doubt he had the lure of 'magic', and these women have no more self worth than to be 'deceived' by the 'magic'...
This IF question, demonstrates why many that are abused, stay quiet.
I will also add, there are women that come pre-packaged with the need to control and abuse for their own self gratification.
That just makes my blood boil.
They are flat-out helping democrat thugs do their dirty work.
