"You realize that sites like Info Wars and many others do the same. It’s common practice."

So is faggotry, but we don't hold with that either.

And by the way, Infowars is a banned source on FreeRepublic.

We have standards here.
We frown on ripping off the work of others and using it for clickbait.
But you go right ahead. See what happens.

That’s what tons of people do here. They post the entire article from another website which violates copyright law. THAT is ripping off someone’s work. I simply follow fair use practices which uses a percentage of the article and the links to the full source. But go ahead and attack me, Hillary and the globalists need all the help they can get.

Further discussion is pointless as you have just demonstrated that you know *nothing* about fair use and copyright law.

I’m going to go have a nice dinner with folks who know whereof they speak.

If you haven’t got yourself Zotted when I get back, I might seek to educate you on just what “Fair Use” means. In the meantime, why don’t you try that argument out on Larry.

I consulted with a lawyer on this prior to starting my website. That is where I got my information on fair use. Also, I assume you’ve heard of Legal Zoom, and here is one of their articles on fair use (also written by a lawyer): “Fair use is an exception that allows parts of a copyrighted work to be used without the owner’s permission.” The article, located at http://info.legalzoom.com/examples-fair-use-copyright-laws-classroom-26881.html, goes into more detail. Note that it says “parts” of copyrighted material. Using the complete article is not fair use.

It’s baffling to me that you’re being so rude to me when we are on the same side and when I’m following what lawyers say on the topic of fair use. Why do you think you have to be that way to me?

The post you are talking about wasn’t sourced from anywhere. It is completely original. Why lie?

Welcome nOOb. You need to post your blog in its entirety. Free Republic is a great place to share ideas and thoughts but it is not a site you can pimp to support your business plan.

Don’t get me wrong. We love bloggers but Free Republic is strictly support by the community and ad free. We aim to keep it that way to maintain its integrity.

We pay good money to keep the lights on around here and for myself I pay more than most people make in a week. Not bragging but trying to impress upon you our ownership in this fantastic site and we have a vested interest in keeping Free Republic that way we like it and occasionally working to improve it for the user groups.

If your work is good enough and your thoughts compelling, trust me, you will get plenty of hits from Freepers and we’ll even tell other about it.

Dave Weinbaum, Jeff Head and few others come to mind. They thrive because they respected us and didn’t abuse the community or insult its senses.

Thank you in advance for your attention and look forward reading more of your thoughts.

BTW, if you get a post from some guy named Jim Robinson, you are probably only one or two more away from riding the lightning.

I don’t even know what you’re talking about. All that I see are people posting the same way I am. They post content in part or in full and a link to the source of that content. I’m just being picked on and it makes no sense. It’s just random and seems to have no rhyme or reason.

The salient point which you conveniently miss is that it is not content they have written themselves.

If you wrote it, you can post it in full.

No restrictions on word count exists if you leave the excerpt box alone.
That is for actual content from actual sources.. not for you.

If I wrote it I CAN post it in full but I am within the rules if I post an excerpt just like everyone else is doing with content. I am a contributor to that other website but that does not mean that I am allowed to post full content that I wrote for them on another website because they own it. There are multiple others who have provided services to the site (programming, advertising, consulting, etc.). It’s not just me and there are other writers as well who will start next month. I am not allowed to post full content on other websites - just like those other sources that people are posting here. I will continue to do it just like everyone else and post an expert with a link to the rest of the content. That is the rule for use of content from that website where my articles are posted whether I wrote the article or not. It’s part of the terms of service is just like most of the other websites that exist on the Internet.

Ah. Rules.
A bit of freedom provides you an opportunity to use Free Republic as a free advertising tool for your blog.
Good form, that.

I am not allowed to post full content on other websites

Material from your own blog that you wrote or "borrowed" all by yourself?
Really?

there are other writers as well who will start next month

So you'll be setting up a few fake accounts to promote more of your material?

I will continue to do it

That should work out great for you.

Cheers.

Here's what the guy who owns this site has to say about your posting:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/2636843/posts?page=557#552

Here's the important part:

"I have no complaint if a good conservative blogger posts his own material to FR, not as an excerpt to drive hits and discussion back to his blog, but rather to impart useful information to OUR readers and to promote and join in on the discussion and conservative activism HERE on FR.

If a blogger can’t or refuses do that, and if he constantly complains or fights with our participants over it, then I’d just as soon he doesn’t post here. It’s not my job to make his content or his presentation or cooperation acceptable to our readers. That’s his job. And if he cannot do it or refuses to do it and continues posting brief excerpts only and obviously attempting to draw away our participants while loudly complaining about it, then I have no sympathy for his complaints and the more apt I am to ban his account and blog.

Furthermore, I’m not big on “rules.” You won’t see me posting rules for bloggers. The rules for bloggers on FR are the same as the rules for everyone else. If you are a good conservative activist and are willing to work with US on OUR goals and causes and not against US, then you’re welcome to post to FR. But unless we say otherwise your blog material should be posted to our bloggers forum and it would be best if you do not excerpt your own material and if you would actually join in on the discussion here on FR. We’re not really that interested in driving OUR traffic to YOUR blog. But if our readers see that you post useful information then they might start reading your site and that’s fine by me."

Remember the thread that was pulled on Wednesday?

Did you bother to read why it was pulled?

You posted an excerpt here on FR that was actually not your writing, but was itself an excerpt of a Breitbart article which you in turn excerpted on your blog.

In other words you expected to get hits for "finding" an article on one of the most heavily sourced websites used on this forum. If you were looking to constructively participate in the discussion here, the way Jim refers to it above, you would have simply linked to he Breitbart article and left it at that. But you just had to get paid for your effort.

And now you're paying for that greed. It's made many of us suspect everything you do.

Fake accounts? Man what is your problem? Have I wronged you in another life? If there were going to be fake accounts, they’d already be there. I was asked to write, agreed and started. I write for a living (I’ve ghost written for best-selling authors and am a best-seller twice under my own name). The other writers (I don’t know the exact number but it’s not that many), aren’t expected to contribute yet because they had too many things going. I don’t know why it’s hard to believe that a group of people would get together and start a conservative news and commentary website. Breitbart is one of the models and, yes, they re-share content as well even if it’s not as much as it used to be. All news websites re-share or use the same stories. The website (Resistance Feed) is not a blog anymore than Breitbart is a blog. Both sites are a mix of commentary and news reports. I really don’t know why you have it out for me.

And by the way, like the vast majority of news websites, we have content that is re-shared and not original along with content that is original. It makes sense not to post re-shared news here now that it has been explained. But Breitbart has ads on its site and yet they are allowed to have their content excerpted here even though a large amount of it is re-shared content that can be found on a lot of other news sites.
