Ann Coulter: Would It Kill You To Hire More Black Cops? (Yes)
Ann Coulter August 27, 2014
As the story of Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilsons shooting of Michael Brown begins to look less clear-cut than we were led to believe by Browns friend, Dorian Johnson, the voices of oppression on MSNBC now say the real issue is that there arent enough blacks on the Ferguson police force.
As Brown may or may not have said seconds before his death: I give up.
If the Ferguson police are forced to hire more minorities and women for the sake of diversity, the one thing we can be sure of is that more black people will be murdered, raped and assaulted.
Someones got to say it, so it might as well be me: Im against more black people being murdered, raped and assaulted.
In a massive, detailed 2000 study of the effect of court-ordered affirmative action plans on police departments, economist John Lott found that the more minorities on a police force, the higher the rates of murder, manslaughter, violent crime, robbery and aggravated assault will be. Violent crime increased by a minimum of 3.3 percent every year after affirmative action policies went into effectand the spike in crime was highest in black neighborhoods.[Does a Helping Hand Put Others At Risk?: Affirmative Action, Police Departments, and Crime, Economic Inquiry, April 2000]
The problem was not with black cops, Lotts study showed, but rather with the lowering of standards across the board, resulting in less-qualified officers of every race. To get more of MSNBCs voices of oppression on police forces, requirements are reduced for all recruits. (Just as quality declined at MSNBC when voices of oppression had to be added to their lineup.)
We end up with cops who are criminals, ..

" law enforcement officials to make sure their ranks are representative of the communities they serve."
Finally, we need to recognize that the situation in Ferguson speaks to broader challenges that we still face as a nation. The fact is, in too many parts of this country, a deep distrust exists between law enforcement and communities of color. Some of this is the result of the legacy of racial discrimination in this country. And this is tragic, because nobody needs good policing more than poor communities with higher crime rates. The good news is we know there are things we can do to help. And Ive instructed Attorney General Holder to work with cities across the country to help build better relations between communities and law enforcement.
That means working with law enforcement officials to make sure their ranks are representative of the communities they serve. We know that makes a difference. It means working to train officials so that law enforcement conducts itself in a way that is fair to everybody. It means enlisting the community actively on what should be everybodys goal, and that is to prevent crime.

Why, Ann...just because they’re black?
You’re part of the problem, Ann.
How would hiring more black cops help?
Would it have kept the 18 yr old man from reaching into the cop car and attacking the officer inside?
Would it have kept the black people from rioting?
Would it have kept the black people from setting fires?
Would it have kept the black people from stealing anything they could get their hands on?
How about instead asking would it kill the parents of black children to teach their children some morals and work ethics?
You are misreading what she wrote.
There’s obviously a problem with the pool of candidates...
Kinda like when Kerry (IIRC) said all we needed to do was train more Army Rangers and send them in instead of ground troops.
Good for Ann. It can be dangerous to speak the truth these days.
As i recall, a few years ago LA, feeling a need to be more racially diversified, tried to hire more black officers. The [roblem wa the dearth of qualified applicants so the standards were ignored and essentially all black applicants were hired. The result was a force with ex felons and current felons acting feloniously. DC has had the same experience.
Too much effort on your part to actually read the words I guess. :)
She clearly says it is not because they are black, it is because the standards have to be lowered in order to find enough qualified candidates under the quota. In other words, quotas lead to lower competency and potentially candidates with low ethical standards.
Well the givernment is the welfare checks(cheeruns) baby daddy, and he replaced Jesus and Moses in publik skuuls with muhHamhead (Pigs be inseminating him) .
Hey Hey LBJ, How many black slaves did you buy today?
We need major welfare reform!
Gov. Jay Nixon
Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, a Republican was on FOX this morning explaining how there are questions about how Gov. Jay Nixon handled all of this, such as holding back the National Guard from being deployed early before the rioting began and other questions .
Ann, you are a typical RINO. We shouldn’t hire a person just because of the color of his skin. If a white is more qualified, then the black shouldn’t get the job.
This is completely true, I live in one of those communities and there is little crime. I live in a community that is white and we have white police officers. But it isn't the race of the police officers that make the difference, and that is what Obama is proposing. My community, and the police officers that I have had an opportunity meet, are well educated, articulate, caring, level-headed and believe in the rule of law. Obama has a fundamental problem with the rule of law and it begins the the US Constitution. Obama is not well educated. He is indoctrinated. Obama is not articulate. He is a bumbling fool when he doesn't have a teleprompter. Obama is not caring. He could care less about the destruction he has brought on America. The problem isn't the race of police officers, it is the culture of the community.
Detroit is better than 80% black and controlled by a primarily black city government but the police department is only 60% black.
Blacks don’t go into law enforcement much.
That being said, people, of whatever faith, culture or background, including the 12% black population (most with some white in them), have to WANT to be in law enforcement.
Even if black people, men and women, WANTED to be in law enforcement, HOW MUCH peer pressure might they feel from their own communities to NOT enter law enforcement? Those wanna-be-cops folks HAVE to live in their community...
It's easier in other communities...perhaps, where there was a tradition of their men being cops.
Gov. Nixon should tender his resignation today.

“It was so obvious that affirmative action had led to the Rampart scandal that a “Blue Ribbon” commission specifically denied it. Twice. “
Never believe a rumor until it has been officially denied. In this case twice.
First of all a police officer needs to be drug and felony free. They generally need to be 21. They need to want to be a cop. They need to be physically fit at least at the beginning of their career. More and more departments require at least a 2 year degree in Criminal Justice, so not only do they have to go to high school and learn to read and write well enough to go to college, they have to get that degree. Again staying free of drugs a felonies.
Then take the fact that they are what 13 percent of the entire population. Half of that is women, not that many women want to be cops. Then you have some of the best fit and possibly educated and they want to play sports or enter the military. So what does that leave exactly? Less qualified applicants.
No, you didn’t read the article. The reason they are unqualified is because the standards were lowered in order to meet Affirmative Action quotas.
