I still blow more money than most and it’s taxed for whatever rate that is.
Just a season of snowboarding will cost me $20k-$30k. Gas, hotels, food, top shelf booze, airfare, women...

While I’m sure there is some money spent on lottery tickets that SHOULD be spent on food or children, no one can convince me some welfare rat has an extra $15K he spends each year at a casino or lotto. Total bullshit

speechless... it is written as if the producers should be thanking the moochers for the schools. I thought I’d look up my local district’s budget revenue... 1% funded by lottery... 9% TOTAL for all state and federal sources of revenue combined. 91% of the district revenue is from local sources (property tax, parcel tax, other local taxes, & foundation $). The education foundation is contributing more to the district than the state... twice as much as the federal revenues. Compare that to Oakland Unified...1.3% lottery, only 25% of funding derived from local sources... 75% from state & federal sources. Oakland Unified spends 13% more per student than my local district, yet scores considerably lower on the state’s standardized tests. Could the quality of education be influenced by something other than funding? /sarc
A few years ago, a ne’er-do-well of somewhat advanced years, in a small forestry town on the Island, won a few million in a lottery. At that time, he said he planed to spend it all as quickly as humanly possible. Then, he set out to make good on his word. He set up a private trailer court, for himself and his his closest drinking buddies (because the one he lived in wouldn’t allow that much partying). He went through the money quickly, and was interviewed about his experiences last year. He said (paraphrasing): “I spent almost all the money on booze, cars, parties, women, and more booze. The rest I spent foolishly.” A lot of people around here enjoyed his escapades vicariously.

And, like Nancy Pelosi’s unemployment benefits, these welfare dollars generate a magical 30% dividend by putting more into the economy and public coffers than they take out in the first place.
Can not understand why people would want to make themselves look like idiots by making asinine comments on national TV like this.
Given the choice, I would rather blow the thousands of dollars a year I currently pay in income tax by playing the slot machines in Atlantic City while sipping free whiskey sodas instead of sitting up nights, tyring to figure out if I am allowed to offset the amount in field 117a from the pro-rated net inverse amount in field 125b.
