That's what happens when you acronym crap to death and speak in acronyms...
Go defend the BOC! (Boc vehicle had radio gear in it and was our mainline back to range control and Headquarters. Not that we needed it. No, never bothered to figure out what BOC stood for, as advance party it didn't matter if I knew that or not.)
But FDC was fire direction control. Or "F da chief" in my unit.
