Reading first hand accounts, I would say we could’ve used a detachment in the Thai/Cambodian border.

As I recall, the Rhodesian Parliament had a certain number of places reserved for black representatives. But they may have been from the more traditional tribal leadership.

As I recall, there was a kind of transitional period when Rev. Abel Muzorewa (sp?) was the leader, but then he lost out in 1980 because Mugabe's ethnic group greatly outnumbered his.

I was traveling in Scotland during the 1980 Olympics and while waiting for a train saw an Olympic event on TV where some white Rhodesian women contestants were being asked if they were excited about their country's independence. Of course it had been independent since 1965, just not recognized by other countries.

you sound like one of the idiots that supported JFK’s anti-America immigration changed passed by his party in 1965 after his death.

Many Republicans also supported the bill.

Jacob Javits (R-NY) was the Republican co-sponsor in the Senate.

It was filled with local conscripts and volunteers along with foreign nationals who joined the fight.

The World Wars of the British Empire helped build the military infrastructure and tradition that served Rhodesia well after UDI in 1965.

The problem was larger than the British Home Office. Commonwealth and other post-colonial countries made British support for black rule in Rhodesia a core diplomatic demand of the Third World. British investments and commercial interests -- including those of the royal family -- were directly threatened.

Notably, the Home Office is said to represent the British royal family's interests within the British government. What Ian Smith and other Rhodesian Anglophiles were unwilling to do at the time is state plainly Britain's reasons and motives for selling out Rhodesia. At its heart, the British royal family is a money-making racket and will sell out even the most loyal subjects and admirers.

Like one family business I worked for, you must always remember, It was by for and about the family, no matter what.
When the son who stood to be the next in line, when he spent millions and bought crap that wouldn’t work for a major project, you had to be the one at fault. It’s good to be the king.

Not always. Unearned wealth, power, and distinction tends to undermine character and disincentivize effort and tangible accomplishment. Rarely does one hear of a royal or a person born to wealth doing anything genuinely worthwhile for more than a few years. Trump is an exception.

They Lost and so did the people, black and white, in Rhodesia. Race hate killed them as it is now killing South Africa.

“Race hate” did not kill them. It was a combination of Marxist/Leftist philosophy and tribalism which killed them.

The USA and the UK became part of the problem.

Once Rhodesia was the bread basket of Africa, now it can’t feed itself. I believe the communists need to be toppled in South Africa, The Zulu tribe and whites take over and run things—That or a Black Napoleon rise up and use military to set up a stable state on a pool of blood. Order must be established—black or white.
