“Of all things, they found Doberman DNA in them.”

Funny you should mention that. Early one morning on a hwy in upstate NY a coyote that was unmistakably part Doberman crossed the road in front of my car. Had the bushy tail with Dobie markings. Too bad I didn’t have time to get a picture, even if cell phones had been invented back then.

Those are good photos posted by salamander at #19 & #21 to show the variance of body types among coyotes. I live just outside of Tulsa OK and hunt deer about 80 miles west, near I-35 in north-central OK. I’ve seen both body types in both areas. The interesting thing is how they are generally considered nocturnal but I’ve seen them in full daylight in both areas. As we move towards fall, the pack-level activity increases and I’m able to locate 4 packs in my rural area by their evening howl-fests. I’ve even had one come into the yard in full daylight to chow down on the fallen persimmons that are also a favorite of the local deer.

I “appreciate” em out to about 300 yards with a 50gr Nosler BallisticTip....works every time too. They seem to just “love” it. /s
Then again, I live way out in the bayou swamps where the woke fear to tread.

"Do not appreciate them. They kill pets.
Cities should control them."

The same goes for Demonicrats. They kill children.

I know a farmer out in N.W. Kansas who hunts them with greyhounds. He had one dog that was huge, it was a mix between a greyhound and Irish Wolfhound....

Cities should control them.

Control them? How about eliminate them? They serve no purpose!

We shoot them on sight when out deer hunting here in PA. The PGC has
added them to the 'Varmint' list so it is open season. My 300 Savage makes
a mess of them.

We are lousy with them in Atlanta.

“What is the smallest recommended caliber for taking coyotes?”

Governor Perry used a .380 when one attacked his dog in Austin.

A 22 works well and is a time honored way of dispatching them.

“Can’t do that in a metro area and there are plenty inside Louisville/Jefferson county.”

Try a suppressed 22LR or 22 WMR.

Exactly, and suburbs should allow them to be shot as well.

That is because they know they can’t catch the roadrunner, and that any plotting and scheming will painfully fail.

It is perfectly OK for coyotes to take chihuahuas and pugs.
