What's Ron Paul Up To? [Campaign for Liberty]
The Atlantic ^ | 2009-02-10 | Marc Ambinder

Posted on 02/10/2009 6:35:36 PM PST by rabscuttle385

It's an economic crisis he largely predicted -- so what's former presidential candidate / Rep. Ron Paul up to these days? He's thinking about the long-term. His campaign for Liberty will start training activists at eight regional summits this year while it continues to urge followers to work against the stimulus and bailout measures in Congress.

More than 500 activists are expected to attend the first summit in St. Louis from March 25 to 27. The second summit is scheduled for April in Jacksonville and a third tentatively set for Seattle. Campaign for Liberty's Senior Vice President Jesse Benton said five more summits will be held if the first three are successful.

Paul will attend the St. Louis summit, as well as Andrew Napolitano, a Fox News legal analyst and former New Jersey Supreme Court justice, and Tom Woods, best-selling author of the "Politically Incorrect Guide to American History."

Benton said the summits will educate activists on the principles of the Constitution and train them in how to influence politics, from organizing, educating, lobbying and running for office. Already activists are getting involved in running for Republican Party leadership races in different states, Benton said.

Warning: a McCainiac that was zotted after the elections may have made an appearance on this thread. Be advised.

“Will Ron Paul run for president in 2012?”

I don't think he will.
I will sure support and work for whomever he endorses

I assume this is meant for me. I have never been a McCainiac and only supported him after he received the Republican nomination. Fred was my first choice.

And this is my first and only account on FR. You are barking up the wrong tree.

"The GOP has no place for extremism"

RE: Your tagline, what would you consider to be extremism? What isn't extremism? Take this opportunity, and guide the GOP. I'm not a Republican, so I may not consider any suggestions you would have, but I AM interested in what you have to say.

I understand and am with you, although I thin RP will be a hard act to follow.

But the mistake that I think is being made is that until whoever makes to the White House, cannot do so alone. Unless he (or she) has Congressional support, they will be a gigantic failure. The State and Congress need to be filled with some smart, and ethical people who will support the new Prez -- but even then, God and the winds of real freedom need to be with us. Without that, it will simply be a "been there, done that, didn't work".

Is anyone going to the event in St. Louis? I live about 15 minutes from the conference and will probably go.

....”More than 500 activists are expected to attend the first summit in St. Louis from March 25 to 27.”....

I bet the biggist booth will be run by the “9-11 TRUTHERS”....

Birds of a feather.....

If you Pre-Order, does it come complete with Nazi armbands too?

Is Alex Jones set to be a “guest” speaker?

Perhaps Barney Frank on the “evils” of war?

You see, if we simply hide our head in the sand, then war can never hurt us!

Over 50% of our population showed themselves to be total morons in November, by electing a socialist. The only bright spot in all this, they were not foolish enough to vote for Ron Paul!

I did NOT vote for McCain. I consider him nearly as bad as Barry Obama! Yet, I would vote for him long before I would vote for a FOOL like “Dr. Paul”.

Sorry I can't be with you in that first “Activist Event” in St. Louis. I think I have to clean my garage that weekend.... But do save me a Nazi armband. All Paul supporters are a big hit everywhere!!!!

I hope that Rep. Paul would agree that, in 2010, conservative candidates, for the U.S. Senate and House, should campaign together, similarly to the Contract with America. They should promise that, if Republicans regain control of both houses of Congress, they’ll pass a set of about five bills, including cutting tax rates to the 1988 rates, obeying the 10th Amendment (which includes repealing all federal laws that mention abortion and spending that isn’t mentioned in the Constitution), and building a brick wall along the Mexican border. This week, many people celebrated the 200th anniversary of Lincoln’s birth. That month would be the perfect time to recruit more conservative candidates, into the republican party.
