"There is far more realism in Paul’s analysis than can be found in those Republicans who believe that Washington’s policy of borrowing billions from China to pay for the occupation of a growing number of countries is desirable, much less sustainable."

No country, China or whoever is going to invade a country with nuclear weapons.

>>>>They don’t have to. All they have to do is suck up the Taiwans and Phillipines and South Koreas of the world. Besides, look at OUR loose borders as you point out...we don’t even have to have a world power invade us, just a 3rd world neighbor can do it! It wouldn’t surprise me if China made a move on Taiwan after the Olympics or at least tested the waters.

These troops should be on the U.S. border defending against the invasion from Mexico and the 3rd world coming in through the U.S. borders.

>>>>We actually can do both, protect our interests abroad AND at home, it only takes the will and fortitude.

Cogent words, indeed. State sponsored terrorism is a very nasty business. It is addressed in the constitution under 'offenses against the law of nations' and it is constitutional to 'punish' these offenses.

Many governments are guilty, including Russia, China, Iran, and Saddam's Iraq.

How to go about punishing these offenses is left to congress but these days it is the president who everyone looks to.

Of course, the constitution says 'punish', not invade and occupy.

So you think that Taiwan, Philipenes, Korea are risking a 3rd world war, maybe a nuclear war China, and millions of American lives?

Look at FEMA, when FEMA first came on the scene there was much ado about it--novels written about how FEMA would take over America with draconian 'emergency' rule.

Well, Katrina showed FEMA to be another completely ineffectual government agency. Oh, draconian alright, but so disorganized and corrupt as to be of no use or much of a threat.

If we had a sleek, rational, conservative government I would be much less concerned about letting them send 'our boys' abroad.

I’m saying if you ignore them, when they inevitably fall WW3 will be fought much closer to American soil and most likely ON American soil!

I never could understand why this is so difficult a concept to grasp, it’s not like we don’t have volumes of history that proves precisely that!

Everyone assumes we’ve “invaded” and “occupied” Iraq when in reality we’ve liberated Iraq and provided security for Iraq! It’s the false language of the left!

We’re in Kuwait since the gulf war because Kuwaitis ASKED us to be. I have a close retired Colonel friend that’s in Kuwait, owns his own security firm. Also does work in Jordan, on invitation!

We don’t “occupy” anyone. Japan is the closest thing that resembles that...and like Germany when we threaten to move bases to Poland or Taiwan...they scream bloody murder!

Contrast the nazis that TRULY occupied France...do you think they’d scream bloody murder when the nazis threatened to “pull out” or redeploy?

What proof do you have that China is out to get the U.S?

Actually Muslims and nuts like Amadinejad and Hugu Chavez have said that they are out to destroy the U.S. and or capitalism. How about Invading venezuela instead of worrying about China.

China has to reasons not to want to go to war with the U.S. 1. we have nuclear weapons. 2. we are China’s best customer.

Now if the U.S. keeps intervening in Taiwan, S. Korea,Philipenes then If I were China then I would get angry at the U.S. too. How would you feel if China had troops in Cuba, and Canad? It seems like a provocation for the U.S. to risk a world war with China by being involved in Asia so much with Taiwan and S. Korea. We can’t solve all problems. the result is that all these U.S. troops do build anger and hate against the U.S. . how would you feel if you had Chineese or Iranian troops in your state? The result is that some Muslim or other angry youth is going to sneak nukes in American cities. that is the threat not China.

“You said it all. Why is America the world’s Policemen? Why should we send our beloved troops to wipe up somebody’s elses mess?”

Because sometimes those swamps need draining because the scum of humanity grow in them and threaten all of us.

Just the way it is.

He just does not believe in a boots-on-the ground method for dealing with it, but rather 20 MT air bursts launched from a trident

If he said THAT he would get alot more votes. Certainly makes more sense than spending billions every month and AMERICAN LIVES proping up a government whose own people have voted for a constitution that states
.........NO LAW SHALL CONTRADICT iSLAM....!

we’ve liberated Iraq and provided security for Iraq!

Historically, a country is 'liberated' from a foreign oppressor as France was liberated from Nazi Germany.

We occupied Iraq for a while then, in a big ceremony, turned over the keys so to speak.

Actually, I was thinking of how Jefferson didn't try to occupy Tripoli.

As for providing security...for whom? A whole lot of Iraqis have been killed.

Iraq, unlike Germany or Japan, is an artifice of British map-makers and not a 'nation' as such.

Binding the three Iraqi factions together with oil money may or may not work. It is nation building, something we chided Clinton on and something Bush directly opposed in 2000.

“Because sometimes those swamps need draining because the scum of humanity grow in them and threaten all of us.”

And we, American tax payers should have to pay for it? Let the scum drown in their own swamp. They are not threatening us by existing. If they provoke or attack us, then we empty their swamp.

Your position of immediate attack on Iran doesn’t have the support of any politician.

Well is certainly should
- unless we are supposed to wait until we are nuked.

Just my personal opinion--after taking out Saddam, we should have re-instated the Iraqi army, let them have an election, then come on home after a while.

The new leader of Iraq would not make the same mistakes as Saddam.

That would have been a short term solution.

Democracy is the long term solution to islamo facism.

Bush is right, but it will take a long time.

Empowering women in the muslim world is key, democracy makes the weak strong.

And if history is any teacher, it will continue to spread.

It already has so very much.

No, not just wait around, no one, not even RP is saying that.

Two ways to nuke someone, sneak in a bomb or send one on a missile.

Fairly unlikely they could get one in over the border (I hope its unlikely!) even considering the current mess on the border. Ron Paul says he would tighten up the border, but the other candidates say the same.

As for missiles, Iran and others are developing missiles and that is certainly a threat.

Ron Paul is all for building SDI and missile shields to protect us. I assume the other GOP candidates agree on that.

By then it's too late.....

We are in a war for the destiny of humanity.

Freedom? or facism?

What we do now, prevents losing a war against a future united nuclear armed islamo facist empire. Because what we did today, prevented that from ever existing, and slowly democracy will prevail. Free nations do not make war on free nations.

If I had to pick between Ron Paul and McPain, I’d take Ron Paul.

Me, too. In a heartbeat.

I like your sentiment very much. Empowering muslim women is very important.

Democracy is a process and in Gaza, it ended with the election of terrorists.

A recent poll taken in Pakistan indicated OBL would win an election with about 46% of the vote.

Yes, democracy is good, but not a panacea.

Just as an aside, ever wonder why Bush goes around promoting democracy---I mean, he is a republican and should promote republicanism. I guess it is just semantics these days.

20MT = 20 million tons. Something that could basically take out the Baltimore-Washington area or lay waste to the entire New York Metropolitan area.
