At first all the polls and scientific field made me take this article and this publication seriously.

then I saw this article on same site and realized we are looking at a Ron Paul Front.

The Republican two man race, Ron Paul and whoever emerges to challenge him

Really? Gee, I would have thought that he was at least as libertarian as I am. I rated higher on the libertarian scale than he did. Maybe that's why I support him. I guess that puts me in pretty good company:

"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is.

Now, I can’t say that I will agree with all the things that the present group who call themselves Libertarians in the sense of a party say, because I think that like in any political movement there are shades, and there are libertarians who are almost over at the point of wanting no government at all or anarchy. I believe there are legitimate government functions. There is a legitimate need in an orderly society for some government to maintain freedom or we will have tyranny by individuals. The strongest man on the block will run the neighborhood. We have government to insure that we don’t each one of us have to carry a club to defend ourselves. But again, I stand on my statement that I think that libertarianism and conservatism are travelling the same path." - President Ronald Reagan 1975 (Full interview)

How can you say cut and run is 100% pro life when he votes against the partial birth abortion ban?

I think you are getting Ron Paul mixed up with Hillary. I know it is easy to do when their policies are so similar, but she is the one who voted against the partial birth abortion ban. Paul voted to allow minors to cross state lines in order to get abortions and to NOT make it a crime to kill a fetus during a crime.

Be fair, everyone knows Freepers are neocon warmongers, Paul supporters excluded of course.

The Paul supporter's view

An Open Letter to Michael Medved
Posted by Thomas DiLorenzo at October 28, 2007 10:20 AM

Dear Mr.Medved:

It is well known that many supporters of your radio show are deranged, bloodthirsty wackos who would like our military to drop nuclear bombs on Iran, which would kill hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions, of innocent people.

These people sometimes call themselves "Evangelical Christians," "Freepers," "Republican Party activists," "neocons," "The Heritage Foundation," "American Enterprise Institute," "Dick Cheney," "Charles Krauthammer," "William Kristol," and other creepy-sounding names.

In order to avoid gaining the reputation of a supporter of mass murder of innocents, I recommend that you immediately disassociate yourself from all these moral misfits. If not, I'm afraid you will be considered to be one of them.

Outstanding, when it comes to the unpopular, for Paul supporters, condemning neonazis, FR comes in second only to Evangelicals amongst the anti-hater loons, and ahead of neocons!

33 percent of 15 percent of the country is not really huge if you consider that he will get maybe 2 percent of the caucasian vote. Luckily for the U.S., Paul loses no matter how you split the rainbow.

Equal protection clause for one. This bill would have applied the same legal standards to harming the unborn baby as current laws do in harming the mother. The unborn are not given equal treatment under the law, as required by the 14th Amendment.

Thanks for your reply. I guess we'll agree to disagree. I don't think our system was designed for that kind of federalization of police powers. It should be a state matter, IMO.

Do you have a response to the second part of my post? A war without popular support is not going to go well, and isn't a great campaign issue either. I know that's not a popular sentiment around here, and I'm actually a Ron Paul supporter who thinks we shouldn't withdraw our troops immediately from around the world. I know everyone is concerned about Iran and Iraq, and they're important, but I'm more concerned about telling China we're done defending Taiwan and telling N. Korea we're done defending the South. I'm also just plain concerned about Putin. It's a dangerous world, and we have troops in over 100 countries for a reason.

Still, like it or not, the question remains: how can a divided USA finish building a united Iraq out of three angry tribes, when 2/3 of the people want the troops home within a year?

*****Paul is just the in thing to follow now... Stephen Colbert may be his biggest threat.****

I have never seen a candidate get so much grass roots support, along with so much grass root money. He has raised almost half the amount of money in October as he raised last quarter. On Nov. 5, he will probably get close to $2 M on that day alone. That is worth about $10 M to Ron Paul, given his grass roots support.

I know he is still a long shot, but I am willing to put my money on him.

I tend to ignore talking points that mirror what one would find on DU or KOS.
