Here's a link to Fr. Haley's deposition:

I read the whole thing - it's pretty sickening.

I was just reading the deposition by Fr. Haley that nina0113 linked:

http://www.rcf.org/docs/loverde/deposition_menu.htm

It's absolutely incredible! I thought that there would be nothing new. How wrong I was. This stuff is mind-blowing. I'd like to post a few excerpts but there's unbelievable revelations on every page -- and it's 200 pages!

In addition to everything else, it paints a clear picture of the difference between Bishops Keating and Loverde. Apparently Keating was doing his best to deal with a huge problem. He acted quickly and vigorously on every known complaint. But there was still a huge problem in the diocese anyway. Now it appears as if the fox is guarding the henhouse.

This document is very long, but it's a page turner. It actually makes up 60 regular pages since the 200 pages of the deposition are in a very small page size. You can download a PDF version, or read it page by page on the internet.

If you thought (like me) that no new revelations of the priest scandal could shock you, read this story and you'll change your mind.

In addition to all of his firsthand experience, a homosexual pastor that Fr. Haley was serving under got the mistaken impression that Fr. Haley was gay (guess his "gaydar" was temporarily malfunctioning). As a natural gossip, and someone who was locked into the power network, he told Haley everything!

On the other hand, I can see now why Fr. Haley was suspended. He names all the names, including several other pastors besides the ones in the story, Bishop Loverde, Loverde's chancellor, and Loverde's mentor, Bishop Cronin of Connecticut. I suppose the diocese expected that Fr. Haley would be a hostile witness who would only give the bare minimum information under duress from the deposing lawyer. Boy were they mistaken!

There should be concern about the issue of causing scandal and the reliability of the witness. But remember: this is public testimony, available from the courthouse, delivered under oath, by a priest who has proven his fidelity to the Faith under difficult circumstances. And so far, every one of his public accusations has been borne out and conclusively proven to be true.

I read the whole deposition last night. This hurts my heart. I will be praying especially hard for Fr Haley and our Diocese from now on.
As discussed with my husband - we will no longer put a dime into the regular collection plate. I refuse to support such a corrupt Diocese. We will increase our gifts to Knights of Columbus, Legion of Mary and our other charities -- where we KNOW where and how the funds are being spent.

Continue to pray and DON'T lose hope!
Amen!
