OK, here is my one and only post for the day (and possibly the week, I am that busy).

Equating ones millenial view with the Gospel is, IMHO, dangerous. Eschatology and Soteriology are worlds apart.

I haven't read all of the posts on this, and related, threads, but I have read most of what I have been BUMPed to. As a result, I continue to remain firmly in the "pan-millenial" camp, while still leaning to a Historical Pre-Millenial viewpoint. I do not believe that II Peter 3 "utterly destroys" pre-millenialism (even though I have read, and re-read, that chapter with an open and inquiring mind), nor do I believe that any pre-millenial texts absolutely destroy the a-millenial position.

In fact, as I look back on this whole discussion I see that much more heat than light has been generated. That is why I come to appreciate even more the wisdom of the position of the Baptist Faith and Message:

X. Last Things

God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.

A sober pastoral observation.

Me too. And I observe that some of the premill literature like the Left Behind series may be entertaining but has virtually no value at all in spiritual growth. People seem to become so engrossed with them that they neglect the Bible itself.

Yep. Southern Baptists believe those plain promises and we don't generally squabble over how it will all be fulfilled. It is a matter of Christian liberty among sound Baptists, not a matter which requires doctrinal separation from opposing views.

In a purely practical sense, the various millennial views are not a part of our salvation. It's pretty hard to think that holding any of these millennial views leads anyone toward sin or presents any sort of obstacle toward evangelization.

Add MHO (my humble opinion) to YHO (your humble opinion). Well said, thanks. Have a great, though busy, week.

I always thought so too Jerry...untill last week...I now find out I am apostate and have a false gospel. (which would leave me lost) People I thought were friends see my salvation and Calvinism as built on sand...

I have never believed in a pre trib rapture..that puts me rather in the HPT camp...The amils may be right..the post mils might be right (I still do not think the pre tribs are right..but who knows:>)..But the bottom line is folks I have loved and respected now have let me know that I have a false gospel ........

Funny is I took off defending the pre mil Eschatology not a a firmly based belief in it but because of the way the amils on this tread were presenting it .LOL actually my own eschatology view is fluid...and may never be solid....cause God is sovereign..at least that is the Calvinists that used to be friends told me...

Be Blessed brother..
