I state unequivicolly that http://www.TCRnews.com - which is run by Stephen Hand - is the finest source of orthodox Catholic news and opinion I have found and I trust it to the Nth degree. Opinion is always labeled as such. Orthodox views from the left (not many exist, to be sure) and right are offered - and paradigms of the left and right are rightly challenged. In my estimation, Hand calls all to authentic Catholicism.

I suppose it is easy for me to acknowledge the balance offered by Hand because I have no history with him and no reason to secpnd guess him or his motives - though I can understand that some do both and perhaps with cause.

Here's the problem. I've felt that way about certain news sources in the past too. Then, one day, the editor writes a screed like Mr. Hand has done here accusing various people of being "former friends of the Pope." That is a very, very, very serious charge, in my opinion and Mr. Hand has thrown it around very recklessly. I don't know Mr. Hand nor am I familiar with his writing. However, I am familiar with some of the individuals he unjustly criticizes. For me, this article raises a red flag, not on them, but on him.
