Catholic university that actually attempts to teach Catholic doctrineI assume you didn't mean the word "attempt". FUS goes way beyond attempt.
BTW, I am surprised to here that Sheed and Ward is publishing dissenting works. Frank Sheed and Massie Ward must be rolling over in their graves. Who has control of that publisher? Do you know?

Here's a little tidbit from their web site which may shed some light on the subject...
"In 1984, Andrews and McMeel sold Sheed and Ward to the National Catholic Reporter (NCR), a progressive independent Catholic newspaper based in Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Andrews, a Catholic layman, sat on the NCR board of directors, so it was a natural divestiture of convenience since his own company was evolving in the direction of humor and gift book publishing and away from traditional religious publishing. Mr. Robert Heyer, an ex-Jesuit, was the creative force behind this latest incarnation of the company and served as its editor-in-chief. While publishing a few titles each season that maintained the companys theological and philosophical publishing roots, he put a much stronger emphasis on popular pastoral ministry resources.
They were later apparently acquired by the Redemptorists and merged with Ligouri Publications. The blurb on their history finishes up thusly...
Today, Sheed & Ward is among the most youthful and dynamic teams in Catholic book publishing and has embraced a culture consistent with that fact. It is a progressive company that is virtual, flexible and efficient; it relies heavily on outsourcing a number of key business processes and upon the use of technology to stay connected and competitive. Most of all, the new Sheed & Ward is committed to bringing good books of substance, consistent with the vision of our founders and owners, to the reading public in North America and beyond.
I love how they use the 'P' word as opposed to just coming right out and saying "We're dissenters."

Yeah, I know. Just a jab at our other Catholic institutions of higher learning that don't even attempt anymore...
