The first thing to know is that it is a split campus. The South campus with the convent is where the majority of dorms are. The North campus is on the other side of Atchison on the bluffs overlooking the river where the abbey is.
A bus runs back and forth. The town is small and not much goes on. Kids used to go to St. Joseph or down to Kansas City for anything. As for the school. I ran out of money when I went there and had to switch to KU. WHATEVER you do keep her away from large state schools.
If this is any comfort, when I went there as a hormone charged 18 year old many girls would spend the weekend doing retreats with the nuns or other stuff that kept them pure and me frustrated. When my little girl is old enough I am going to look for just such a place.
I can't tell you about the digital media arts part. I was a physics major.

Hmmm. I wonder if it is all together now. The website didn't mention anything about a split campus. Several Catholic freepers had mentioned the school along with some others we had been considering.

We're going down to Naples in Nov. to the Ave Maria Univ. Open House. They don't have the major our daughter wants, but we're thinking she could go there for her first two (most impressionable) years, then go on to a small private technical college in Phoenix for her BA in Digital Video Editing. I sure wish that new Catholic college planned for the Phoenix Diocese was up and running!

Another school that has a Digital Cinema major is DePaul in Chicago, but I don't know if she wants to be in a big city, and I'm not so sure about just how 'Catholic' it actually is.

John Paul the Great Univ. is in San Diego, but they can't recruit students yet because they haven't gotten a charter from the State to award diplomas. They will have a major in Communications that seems to involve a lot of what our daughter likes.

She is thinking she'd like to do a semester in Japan, but we were in Tokyo in the summer for a couple of weeks visiting some homeschool friends, and she was not enamored of the rapid pace of life in such a large place. She wants to go, and we want her to go while our friends are still in the country so that someone we know would be close to her in case of an emergency. We're looking at another program outside of Tokyo in another city, smaller, but within an hour's train ride of our friends.
