A Rosary Each Day This Week for the U.S. Catholic Bishops
USCCB ^ | 6-10-02 | Salvation

Posted on 06/10/2002 3:21:19 PM PDT by Salvation

This has been running through my mind for the last couple of days.

Will you join with me to say a Rosary each day this week and throughout the USCCB conference in Texas that The Holy Spirit will provide guidance and courage for the Bishops during this difficult time?

Here is a prayer from another thread. Please feel free to post prayers, thoughts, about the USCCB meeting.

From another thread:

"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit...

"Immaculate Mary, most Holy Mother of God and of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we the people of the United States of America at this historic moment stand before you in a humbled condition of love, loyalty, affection, and thankfulness.

To your Immaculate Heart we recommit and dedicate ourselves throughout the entire American nation.

To your Son Jesus Christ we pledge to serve His teaching, His church, and to work for His kingdom on earth.

O Mary, to you do we flee for protection. Surround the American family with your maternal care; enfold us in your arms. Give to this American land, built on the blood and tears of so many faithful forebears, a peaceful and praiseworthy existence in truth, love, justice, and freedom.

O Mary, we submit to you as the Patroness of our beloved country. O Mary, Help of Christians, enfold the Holy Father and the Catholic Church within your protective cloak; be our shield in the days ahead. Give to the Church true holiness and freedom. Obtain for our leaders holy zeal, the ability to face the truth, and the courage to correct all abuses. Stop the flood of atheism, greed, heresy, impurity, lukewarmness, materialism, and selfishness that threaten our nation. Show to those who have strayed from the Church the way to Our Lord Jesus Christ. Mother of God, accept our personal consecration to you and, through you, bind us forever to the Holy Trinity. Gather us all into your Immaculate Heart and unite us forever with Jesus. O Mary, we love you. Amen."

There are also Prayers, Litanies and Songs in the Acrobat text. Also a wonderful drawing of Christ.

I will try to post the appropriate prayers on the appropriate days. If anyone has a clue of which prayers go with which days, you can help me out -- Freepmail me.

I'm in too! St. Anthony is my Patron Saint and he has never failed me. Plus, my rosary beads contain a bit of earth from the grave of St. Theresa - which makes me think of h_m now. You know he is working his hardest up in heaven!

Many ask the question, "What can I do to help?" The only way any of us can discern an answer to that question is by seeking the presence of Christ, "the way, the truth, and the life." Many things seems impossible for us. But with God, all things are possible.

I pray that the Bishops are sincere in this goal, because I for one will be praying.

It is beautiful isn't it? I remember the first time I read it I cried like a little baby. This and the words of Our Lady to St. Juan Diego at Guadalupe just hit the spot.

Anyway, that poem is from a book entitled "The Secret of the Rosary" by St. Louis De Montfort and the words I posted were written by Blessed Alan de la Roche. Actually there is more to it and here it is.

Blessed Alan de la Roche says: "Let everyone who loves you, oh most holy Mar, listen to this and drink it in: (then the poem)

Blessed Alan continues..."For the sweetness of this blessed salutation is so great that there are no words to explain it adequaltely, and even when its wonders have been sung, we still find it so full of mystery and so profound that the depths can never be plumbed. It has but few ords but is exceeding rich in mystery; it is sweeter than honey and more precious than gold. We should often meditate upon it in our hearts and have it ever upon our lips so as to say it devoutly again and again." Blessed Alan was speaking of the Hail Mary.

The book "The Secret of the Rosary" is available from TAN books and publishers. It used to cost $1.00. a copy, now I think one copy may cost $3.00. It has so many treasures, heres another:

"One day St. Gertrude had a vision of Our Lord counting gold coins. She summoned the courage to ask Him what he was doing. He answered: 'I am counting the Hail Marys that you have said: this is the money with which you can pay your way to Heaven.'

Our Lady said herself to St. Gertrude: "No salutation could be dearer to my heart than those beautiful and dignified words that God the Father addressed to me Himself."

And she said to St. Mechtilde: "All the Angelic Salutations that you have given me are blazoned on my cloak." (Then she held out a portion of her mantle) "When this part of my cloak is full of Hail Marys I shall gather you up and take you into the Kingdom of my Beloved Son."

What an awesome God we serve.

Thanks, Captain!

With the quotes you have there, and the way the story of the visitation to Elizabeth unfolds, I can not understand how anyone can keep from calling our Blessed Mother Blessed.

Maybe this is just one of the things that I will never fully understand in this life.

Your quite welcome. Hopefully (not hopefully) I know that someday all of us will call Mary our mother!
