Regardless, I'm afraid they're going to have to be exposed...

You can probably guess!

It was very well written, of course.

She is ticked off that the Cardinals and Bishops do not appear to be dealing with the homosexuals in the priesthood and she is so ticked off that she is considering taking her family to a Marionite Rite(sp) Church. Natch she spelled "Marionite" correctly!

It would be good for things like the Cardinal Newman Society, the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars, Catholics United for the Faith, Ignatius Press, even the Wanderer Forum Foundation, to conduct panel discussions in the same hotel or location as the USCCB discussions with a focus on the actual proposals.

ConSpiratio has the potential to be more than just a talking-shop.

Doesn't sound like the therapy was much help. (It frequently isn't, I think.)

God have mercy on them. (And the mercy of God is so much greater than we can picture here, especially for those broken by life!)

A lot of us seemed surprised the Vatican will be sending a delegation to investigate the seminaries. Maybe it will be a surprise visit. Although I don’t see how they can keep something like that a secret. Maybe the Jesuits are in on it.

Even non-surprise visits could be helpful, if they interview seminarians this time (instead of administrators), and promise to protect them from any retribution for their statements (and follow through on that promise).

There needs to be some public and formal deliberative procedure to counter things like when Archbishop Flynn appeared on Nightline and said he doubted the topic of homosexual priests would even "come up" at the Dallas conference.
The topic may not be on the agenda, but I sent an e-mail to Bishop Gregory about the problem in advance of this meeting. Hope he shares it with the others.

IMO, the party-line is deliberately vacuous, designed to say something without saying anything at all. Trying to counter it is like fighting shadows. I'd prefer to hit the dissenters' events and out the cardinals, bishops and priests who give them succor -- internal enemies like Carl K. Moeddel, Auxiliary Bishop of Cincinnati, who will be a keynote speaker at the National Association of Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries this September in Cincinnati, and his bishop, Daniel E. Pilarczyk Archbishop of Cincinnati, who was mentioned last night on 60 Minutes II in connection with the coverup (yet more evidence of the connection between the gay/gay sympathizing hierarchy and the scandal).

Not unless Askel's smoked the peace pipe with Sinkspur.

ConSpiratio grew from an idea hatched by askel & me, about how cool it would be for Catholic FReepers to meet face to face. We had a small but satisfying first meeting here in New Orleans this past March. I know Askel's been mulling the idea of a re-match, which is great, but maybe the current outrage should be channelled into something closer to activism.

I agree. The Michael Rose approach would be most excellent.

and promise to protect them from any retribution for their statements (and follow through on that promise).

Without that assurance the visit would be another whitewash.

It was mentioned in the document from the Cardinal's meeting in Rome in April that they would ask for an "apostolic visitation." What happened last time is that they picked one of the "conservative" bishops in the US to head up and organize the visitation. (I would need to look at Rose's book to see who.) For whatever reason things didn't turn out like they should have.

Whenever it is decided who is going to lead this commission, we need to make sure we get all over this man, and let him know we demand accuracy.

It seems to have been pretty brief. There was some woman on arguing the gay side (I have no idea who). And the hostess, of course, is an idiot.

Nonetheless, I was glad to see Brady on a major media outlet -- the others should follow. I think he makes a good appearance -- gravitas, you know -- and has a good voice. I was afraid RCF would be ignored by the media.

One of our local conservatives in our group paid for ads in our three local secular papers that said:

ATTENTION CATHOLICS:

Our Bishop has just kicked off his annual fundraiser. It is suggested that we all prayerfully consider withholding our money from this Bishop until he makes a full accounting to us of how much of our money he has paid out to silence victims of sexual abuse---- AND until he hands over the names and church records of known abusers to law enforcement authorities----AND until he removes the clinical psychologist he pays to screen seminary candidates.
