I know the Calvinist answer is so He could predestine the majority to eternal torment. Isn't that right? At least they always say what He predestined is according to His eternal purpose. Since the majority of people are predestined for hell, we must assume that was His purpose in creating the majority of the people.

Where are the ones made alive? All in Christ. All those in Christ will be made alive.
BUT...
Rom. 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
...can only by some dishonesty be made to say anything but "all men."
Hank
This is not what you meant, is it?
Hank
Interesting analogy. I wonder what the frequency of Free Masonry was among the Calvinist population of our founding fathers. Zennybuddy know?
For the record, Mom, would you please list some of the verses that use any of the following expressions: "spiritually dead," "dead spiritually," "spiritual death," "die spiritually."
Well may you can provide a verse that explicitly say that mankind is spiritually dead, or that they died spiritually in Adam. And just was does "spiritually dead" mean, anyway. Do you believe human beings do not have a spirit?
Hank
Gosh, winston, I go straight to the Bible and name it word for word. What man-made words do you use and call the gospel? The problem is that you non-Calvinist don't know what the gospel is so you don't have a clue when it is being preached.
I just got home and noticed I had a freepmail from a FReeper by the name of "Sinkspur" who informed me that he/she? had the sermon I posted by John MacArthur pulled. (I'm betting it's a "she") :D
America's *inspired* Founders were well aware of the danger presented by religious zealots who always try to silence the religious beliefs of others. History shows what the religion / speech police always do if they are ever allowed to obtain the absolute power combination of "Church and State."
It's imperative that we defend our Constitution, Bill of Rights and the other founding documents that protect us from those who would just LOVE to have the opportunity to enforce their religion on the rest of us and silence us in the process.
We can't say we're not in good company, though. The religion police couldn't silence Jesus, so, with the help of "the authorities" they killed him. :D
[1] I agree with your last statement regarding church discipline within a congregation. And I do not construe my office as an elder as bearing authority of discipline outside my local congregation.
[2] I do disagree strenuously with the statement,
"Thus, it is permissible to say a concept is "not Christian" and it is impermissible to say a person is not a Christian for believing in the unchristian concept.
An individual for example who says,
"I believe that Jesus was just a man, a teacher, I respect and follow Him as such. I do not believe his death on the cross or His ressurrection assuming that really happened, has anything to do with my eterrnal destiny. I believe all will go to Heaven who want to."
should not only be told that their views are un-Christian but that they are not a Christian if they believe what they have said. Period. It doesn't need to be harsh but it does need to be said. Speaking the truth in love. Not to confront such errant individuals is unloving to them and an abdication of our responsibility to be agents of reconcilliation.
No but He is sovereign over all the affairs of men..so he has read Calvin and agrees :>)))))
There once posted here a man that said everyone will be a " Calvinist "in heaven....
Within the last 6 weeks, we have preached messages on the evils of both Free Masonary and Mormonism. When was the last time your church did that?
The problem is that you non-Calvinist are stuck in your pride and really are unwilling to learn anything from a Calvinist. Before you accuse me of the following, remember that I go to a non-Calvinist church and I am currently reading a book by a Methodist-Episcopalian who happens to be the hero of a few of you Arminians.
So much the wise thoughtful post..take the log out of your eye .
I am just letting their "entirely santified"" sinless perfection" display it self in all its glory
Mom, if you have been reading the posts lately you would have noticed that we are trying our best here not to engage in any PERSONAL ATTACKS. So knock off the judgemental attitude and the personal stabs and address the issues and ONLY the issues. Winston does not have a log in his eye and if he did, it would be a "beam." Just asketh FTD.
Thank you.
The Management. :-)
BTW since Jesus was a carptenter he worked with beams and not logs.
Thats it..the new gospel..Jesus had no clue who you are..He never knew you.
PS "We do not talk abouit sin someone might be offended"
Well, of course, the gospel just got the nickname Calvinism along the way.
No but He is sovereign over all the affairs of men..
Mom, I have one question. Why does your sovereign God give men a sinful nature?
Hank
You say you've preached the gospel right under our very noses. But you see, we've preached it too and you guys have merely said, "No, that's not it" or "No, that's only part."
And now, we've practically begged you to share the five words of the gospel with us, and you continue to hide them under a bushel basket.
