He follows three classic abuse patterns I am familiar with. First, he attacks in private. Now, he and many others he hangs out with here on FR do attack in public as well, but they often reserve the nastiest attacks for private freepermails. The funny thing is that Ward Smythe previously complained about such a freepermail – though from which Calvinist I don’t know. After Ward said that he wasn’t going to post it, the Calvinists vigorously demanded that he post it. Well, this time it’s going to get posted. Watch them attack that just as nastily. Regardless, should you get freeper mails from him or others like him, realize what they are trying to do, they are trying to beat you down emotionally in private, while maintaining some semblance of respectability in public.

Ward left FR because he lied about the mail and it's intent Patent..He did not expect you to ask to report it. That is the reason that the men ask that it be posted..it is unfair of you to try link that with anything else...

I just never did understand how anyone thinks venom and anger will sway anyone to believe their way unless they think the fear factor will work.

Having been emotionally abused for many years, my defense is to run (physically or mentally) away from any potential abuser. I've read some of the docs posts and normally avoid them like the plague and there are many more posters that I just glide right on past. I know it does no good to even respond to these types of people because they aren't rational and your response just gives them that much satisfaction. They think they can win any argument because in their opinion, their opinion is the only one that matters, they have no objectivity and their minds are closed. It's like playing a game with a young child, when they start to lose they change the rules to their favor, accuse you of cheating or just quit.

I've dealt with the_doc and his ilk on other threads, and he isn't worth the bother or time. But his whining that we RCs always try to get him and his buddies banished for being "catholic bashers" is not unfounded. He and his friends are some of the worst bigots I've come across. Just reading this freepmail totally convinced me of that.

As far as banishing anyone; I personally don't care if Jim R banishes them for whatever reason. Give 'em enough rope and they will hang themselves theologically anyway.

You chose to use it as an example..I pointed out to you it was not an accurate example as the REASON that the Calvinists wanted it posted was because they knew it was was an ego trip and nothing else

Now as to doc words..they are his words..not mine.So it is not mine to judge the intenet of his heart..I will say he and I hold the same view on Eucharist (as you would expect)

As I understand what happened here, Brian received an unsolicited, no strings email. At that point the email "belonged" to Brian and he should be able to do anything he wants with it as long as he properly credits the ideas expressed in it to the true author. So why even ask?

You constantly judge the intent and hearts of Catholics, and you just did so with respect to Dr. Kopp and his intent, since you badly paraphrased his words regarding banning to add an intent feature to them. You judge his intent, but you won’t judge the_doc’s, why? Because you agree with one of them. Hypocrisy.

Further, you are constantly complaining and judging Catholics and their intent. Do you want me to assemble a list of your posts I’ve saved where you do just that? Hypocrisy. If you can't condemn evil when one of your friends does it your condemnations to your opponents mean nothing. Even the tax collectors do the same.

It is good form to give someone the chance to either give his assent or to withdraw his comments first. Also, I asked Brian to do that because I knew what the_doc’s answer would be, and it would fit right into the stereotypical profile of a verbal abuser.

Generally most people think it is better in most circumstances to not post the freepermail when it is private. There is no FR rule on the subject that I know of though, its just custom.

It is funny Patent because I got a freep mail from someone I have little contact with early this morning..he mentioned the RC that posted that he enjoys baiting people and getting them banned....and then I come home from an afternoon out only to find this going on....and it is significant and pertinent to this discussion...after all it is Brian that is one of the major players in this "drama"

Personally I avoid all of you for the most part cause the RC caucus dislikes any examination of their doctrine..and keeps the finger poised..just ....waiting .....waiting to silence anyone that dares to disagree..

Now me ..I enjoy a serious discussion of doctrine..but I am not foolish enough to believe I could change any hearts..that is God's job...He knows who is savable and who is not ..
