As I understand what happened here, Brian received an unsolicited, no strings email. At that point the email "belonged" to Brian and he should be able to do anything he wants with it as long as he properly credits the ideas expressed in it to the true author. So why even ask?

I consider myself a newbie here so if you don't mind, I have a question regarding Dr. Brian Kopp's asking permission to post ---- Why ask permission at all?It is good form to give someone the chance to either give his assent or to withdraw his comments first. Also, I asked Brian to do that because I knew what the_docs answer would be, and it would fit right into the stereotypical profile of a verbal abuser.
Generally most people think it is better in most circumstances to not post the freepermail when it is private. There is no FR rule on the subject that I know of though, its just custom.
