The True Eucharist
Sapphires | Jonathan Cahn

Posted on 04/26/2002 9:01:52 AM PDT by WhatNot

Many churches focus on the "eucharist," which for them means the bread of the Lord's Supper. Other believer's don't think the concept of the eucharist is Biblical. But the concept of "eucharist" is Biblical. The word "eucharist" comes from the Greek "eu" meaning "good" and "charis" meaning "grace" or "blessing." The eucharist at the Last Supper was not the bread itself, but the blessing Messiah said over the bread. The blessing is one said in Jewish homes to this day: "Baruch Atah Adonai Elohaynu Melech Ha Olam, Ha Motzee Lechem Min Ha Aretz" - "Blessed are You O Lord Our God, King of the Universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth." This is the true eucharist.

The true eucharist is never eaten, it is given. It is a blessing of thanks to God. It's not the bread, it is the blessing over the bread. And this distinction can change your life. Life doesn't consist of the things you have, but the blessings you say over them. You only truly have what you bless and give thanks for. Give the blessing of thanks over your, bread - your parents, your family, your friends, your situation - over everything, good and bad. And your life itself will be truly blessed, for such is the true eucharist.

Luke 22:14-20

TODAY'S MISSION

Prepare a private communion service today, with you and Messiah. Lift up to Him those things that need to receive His blessing - your loved ones, your job, your ministry.

Does this mean we can disobey God and be saved?

Colleen it means just what I said it means..keeping the law does not save anyone..that is salvation by self effort and works..The Blood of Jesus saves us..Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

He paid the price for us..and in Hebrews we read we now have a high priest read Hebrews 9

Hbr 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation

The purpose of the law was to demonstrate to us that we are sinners...we can never keep the law perfectly..let alone earn our way to heaven with it..

God allowed thier errors to continue for 1600 years, until the reformation corrected them?

If time and tradition is the test of truth you should be a Jew:>))

Some of that "Scriptural Truth" is this: All regenerate Christians are saints, and as such are members of the universal (catholic) church. They have One "Holy Father" and He is in heaven.

Amen...

According to the Greek, "Dorkas" was a Christian woman of New Testament times who made clothing for the poor. Maybe her husband Dork really was a religionist who was stubborn and superstitious. If so, I'm sure, knowing His MO, Jesus would have used "Dork" as one of His examples of the types of mentalities his disciples should avoid.:D

LOL..I know Dork, and...........never mind:>)

Dorkas...

The things you learn on Free Republic are truly astounding.

Would their offspring be "dorkettes?"

"You are correct that Jesus was not just some nice soft spoken guy. He is God. He did not, though, act like "the_doc" does, and no amount of silly little words stuffed in his mouth by you can change that."

Actually Jesus was not nearly as "nice" as the_doc. The_doc has never called people a "bunch of snakes."

Paul was not as "nice" as the_doc. The_doc has never called anyone a "whitewashed tombtone."

Stephen was not as "nice" as the_doc. The_doc has never called anyone "stiff-necked and uncircumcised." (But I think he has come mighty close to using that one.)

"I would have ?thought? that "irresistable grace" would prevent one from bearing false witness."

Looks like your *feelings* are getting in the way of *thought*.

Ah, so quite clearly it does not. Seems to be lacking in a number of other areas as well.

Only the feminized males and airhead females that take after their dad, "Dork". :D

I'd say if that were the case God isn't very good at His job. After all, there are a whole heck of a lot more Catholics than "reformed protestants". The Church is still here and bigger and better than ever. Noahs contemporaries did not fare as well.

Who do you consider Catholic? I know many who are Catholic by tradition only. They don't attend Mass or anything, but their family is Catholic, so they are Catholic. If you add them, I'm sure you're correct.

And as the world was clean for a while after, Jesus still came to "clean" things up, didn't He?

And until you show me a Biblical verse that is as strong in its support of Mary having and intercessory role in prayer as 1 Tim 2:5 is showing that Jesus is the only mediator, you're position is dead in the water.

If you believe that then you should not ask any friends or relatives to pray for you.

First, I think that you need to understand that Catholics DO believe that Jesus is the only Mediator between us and the Father. That is why all prayers are directed to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, even when we choose to ask Mary and the Saints for intercession. We're not asking them to do an end run around Jesus and go directly to the Father for us -- ignoring the fact that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and IS God -- we are asking them to pray for us IN JESUS' NAME.

I hope the Scriptures below help:

"‘And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God said to him, "I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob"? He is not God of the dead, but of the living . . .’" (Mark 12:26-27)

"Pray at all times in the Spirit with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me . . ." (Eph. 6:18).

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely . . ." (Heb. 12:1).

"And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints . . ." (Rev. 5:8).

God bless.

LOL. I take those phrases from the Bible any day over what the_doc said.

OK

Speaking against the traditions of men Jesus said

Mat 23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
Mat 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
Mat 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, [that] observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
Mat 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay [them] on men's shoulders; but they [themselves] will not move them with one of their fingers.
Mat 23:5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
Mat 23:6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
Mat 23:7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
Mat 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, [even] Christ; and all ye are brethren.
Mat 23:9 And call no [man] your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
Mat 23:10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, [even] Christ.
Mat 23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
Mat 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Mat 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in [yourselves], neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Mat 23:14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
Mat 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
Mat 23:16 Woe unto you, [ye] blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
Mat 23:17 [Ye] fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
Mat 23:18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
Mat 23:19 [Ye] fools and blind: for whether [is] greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
Mat 23:20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
Mat 23:21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
Mat 23:22 And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
Mat 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier [matters] of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Mat 23:24 [Ye] blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
Mat 23:25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
Mat 23:26 [Thou] blind Pharisee, cleanse first that [which is] within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
Mat 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead [men's] bones, and of all uncleanness.
Mat 23:28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Mat 23:29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
Mat 23:30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
Mat 23:31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
Mat 23:32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

Mat 23:33 [Ye] serpents, [ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
Mat 23:34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and [some] of them ye shall kill and crucify; and [some] of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute [them] from city to city:

Mat 23:35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

Is that better? :>)))))
