As Robert Graves wrote, in another, fictional, tale: "let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out."
At least two generations of Catholics have grown up almost entirely ignorant of Catholic doctrine, and securely in possession of a do-it-yourself morality.
I see the effects of this statement in my younger coworkers, many of whom have abandoned the church. It is also evident in the poor religious instruction, doled out in today's catholic schools and religious education programs. My 15 year old has been in both catholic school and religious ed. for 11 years. She lacks the fervor and strength of faith we received from the nuns in pre vatican II.
I can't speak for others on this thread, but for myself I now have a far greater appreciation for what the Apostles went through between Friday and Sunday. I've found myself wavering between despair, anger, sadness. But through it all, is faith. Faith that before too long we will discover the tomb is empty.(And maybe a few chancelries as well?)
The mystics and saints who will be the rays of light on this coming Sunday morning are with us even now. And we won't have to wait much longer to see them.
Truly, as the author above notes, we are a blessed generation.
I trust the trials many good priests will be enduring thanks to their Bishops will make them only stronger.
Father Dillon was the Pastor but I'm sure he has been gone for decades. It was a great place and had a great grade school with wonderfull Sisters and Sister Rose Georgette would come out at play time and play softball with us. I really enjoyed reading Father Wilson's message of renewal and we all would be better off if we went through our own personal renewal.
He writes like a priest, I however lived my life in the construction business and i Cannot abide that we should let the Bishops do whatever they like and we go on our own way
Along with the prayer and renewal should be a grand period of Purge and Purification througfhout the whole church in America.
We should demand, from the remaining Bishops who survive the Purge, a set of rules to be applied across the whole church which would avoid getting into this mess ever again.
If they don't do it or don't like it we can have a code of rules drawn up by Catholic Professionals within our church.
Throw out all the Cardinals, Bishops and Clergy who allowed this rot to flourish and throw out all the Homosexual Criminal Priests, with notification to the Police.
Turn over all records to the authorities Immediately and fire any Clergy who stand in the way. Then rebuild the Church to its proper place in the community with the respect Christ, the Church and we deserve.
Go back to The Baltimore Catechism it is still a great learning tool. This is not a big job to do since most everything is in place ,Just get rid of the Infidels.
