Eternal is not a trivial word. This is the term Jesus uses repeatedly. You must face the impact of Jesus' term. If saving faith can come and go - eternal doesn't mean eternal.
***Is it a one time articulation of an intellectual acceptance, or is it that accompanied by the working out of the faith that Paul desrcibed?***

Regeneration results in a life of walking with the Lord. It is the beginning.

Sorry. You can believe this if you want, but I won't. It's not just one point in time. If Paul had to work out his faith, then so do I.

Regeneration effects the entire being of a person and is irreversible. No one is unregenerated after regeneration. *2Pe 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
