Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
The exact same sweters were sold to each of the chains with the exception that sizes were more perfect for McGregor.
The McGregor sweaters, at retail, sold for nearly twice as much as at the "cheaper" stores.
Since that time I learned that many of the "branded" products are made at the same plant, with the same ingredients, samo samo, as the "store brands".
When shopping for food I always try the store brand at least once. If I don't like it, it is crossed off my list.
There are a few, very few, "store" products which aren't as good and some which are better than the "brands". Two examples:
Wheaties is my breakfast. Nothing else touches Wheaties.
Tomato Soup. The store brand, in my store at least, is much better than Campbells.
You can gamble without it being about money, but it becomes wrong when you gamble for money.
It becomes wrong when you gamble for money. That's what he said. I said to "Gamble with a financial payoff." I suppose you will now, rather than apologize, find some way that what I said was different.
You are flat out wrong Dave. The issue was about life insurance. My position is that life insurance isn't sinful because the person "betting" stands to gain absolutely nothing and thus isn't coveting anything, except perhaps a better life for his family after he's gone.
You redefined my position based on your own opinion, not mine.
Doug, I am disappointed in you. I expect Reggie to call me a liar no matter what, but I thought you would see.
What was your definition of the "sin." Didn't I quote it from you verbatim?
it becomes wrong when you gamble for money.
I said the exact same thing and you accused me of making something up. You called me a liar and I am not. you owe me an apology as well.
Perhaps I am not clear enough. You can disagree with me about whether life insurance is a form of gambling for money. But you can not disavow your definition that all gambling for money is wrong.
I see, clearly, that insurance is gambling for money, and I am not the only one. I then apply your definition and conclude that insurance is sinful.
So argue with me the facts of insurance, but do not tell me that you did not define "Gambling for money" as wrong. Don't call me a liar and don't join Reggie in accusing me of lying about this.

Because you refuse to read what the writer wrote. And you know that you are ignoring the author's contextualization. This is fundamentally dishonest.
It's like I wrote a story about the greatest Steeler teams of the Cowher era and you accused me of leaving out the 1978 Super Bowl XIII champs.
Carry on, no serious person will bother to engage you.

I'm screwing a prostitute and you refuse to listen to my 10 seconds of wife adoration. You are being fundamentally dishonest because you are ignoring the whoremongers contextualization.
Anathema!
The next time you go to a decent restaurant, take a look at the Heinz label for its point of origin. There is simply no other acceptable ketchup in these parts.
Reggie is right, though, that many store brands are near-indistinguishable from the famous brands. We use many such. But, some things are just non-negotiable. Peanut butter is another, my wife will only buy JIF.

But what about Stallworth and Lambert? Weren't they great?
SD
Well, that's good. My minions were too busy twisting Reggie's shoulder to make your rash more bothersome. LOL

You mean the asteroid movie? I don't think I'd bother reading the story, it works better as a movie.
Of the two that came out that summer, Asteroid was the flahier flick (though Robert Duvall was a better character in the other movie). Go rent the movie.

It appears you are now changing your "weeks" to "months". Tch, tch. According to your profile you are celebrating your one month anniversary on Free Republic today.
Do you have the same trouble with memory and numbers as you do with history?
I could suggest it would be good practice if you don't know the answer to something, don't invent one.
LOL. If you think I was changing the subject, you really do not get it.
Others may explain it to you.
What time Reggie? What money? A priest spends his time in service to God for little money. Probably the amount you get for Social Security. Maybe I just don't spend my life infront of a computer. Wait, hear is the Bapstist comeback...for the priest scandal...they weren't priests in the first place. Don't even try to ressurect the scandal, remeber Jimmy Baker...and Swaggert...with the prostitute...we are all human.
Does it matter to you that I never mentioned, or even hinted, that I was talking about Priests? I was speaking of the posters on this forum only. Are you a Priest?
Why in the world would you ring in unrelated trash like this?
Who peed in your Wheaties? Do they even make generic Wheaties? I've never seen any.
The point is not to claim that such behavior is "OK" (and you know better than that.) The point is that we need to see how the media plays up this same exact failure among the schools, who are the darlings of the media versus how they played it against the Church, whom they generally despise.
You should examine why you react in this way. Why don't you take a portion of your vitriol and direct it at the schools who seemed to do the same thing, instead of firing more at the Catholics?

How would you know if Jesus apeared to you?
Actually, I wouldn't. But then, I'm not looking for JESUS to appear to me.Matthew 24:23 Then if anyone says to you, 'Look! Here is the Messiah!'e or 'There he is!'--do not believe it.
24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and produce great signs and omens, to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
25 Take note, I have told you beforehand.
26 So, if they say to you, 'Look! He is in the wilderness,' do not go out. If they say, 'Look! He is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.
27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
