Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
I thought the tie in with Mary was a nice touch, if I do say so myself.
I hope your tongue was planted firmly in your cheek when you typed that....
Why it makes me want to....do some hail Mary's.
So, the devil made him do it?
You don't believe in demons, or evil influence?
I thought the RC's held to the free will of man?
Yes, but man is not always free in his actions. Other influences can influence his perceptions and actions.
You assume from external evidence not only cuplability, but the complete lack of any faith.
This is not your job!
And what communion has light with darkness?
And what business of yours is it declaring who is "dark"?

Yes, of course. But that doesn't mean that we can't recognize that the branches are part of Him, doing His work, does it?

Lol. Not necessary now since I've redone my tagline. :-)
I think so. You seem to be arguing that, at some point along the "sin spectrum," the minister's sinfulness can impair the validity of the sacrament. For there is no sacrament without a minister. The sacrament is brought about through the minister. That's the way Jesus chose to bring it about. I believe that was Dave's original point - though his post was actually in reference to other sacraments.
Or "The Neverending Story -- The Second Coming". ;o)
Not judging his soul at all, just questioning his profession.
The hell you aren't! you've decided he was a "reprobate" which means that he is destined for hell and that he has no faith whatsoever.
Spare me your "I'm not judging" crap. you have done nothing but look at the externals and decided that a certain man has no faith.
That is not your job!

I like this one. ;o)
