The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.
Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |

Philo was a hellenist. He certainly would have been familiar with Greek mythology and the stories of the titans. I wouldn't consider his opinions to be representative of Jewish belief at the time.Beleive me there were plenty of Jews during the intertestamental period (all of the essenes and others) that had no problem with this approach.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I was reading a mystery based on this theory awhile back. I threw it in the trash about half way thru. Too scary. (I wasted a whole 25 cents :') )

Amos 5:21-24 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. That was the problem. The children of Israel looked upon feast days as their own. Its required that we look upon feast days as belonging to Him.
Leviticus 23 1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

To my husband and son too. They were most annoyed by my squirming and "how much longer?" "which one was that?" "what happened?" comments. I need that kind of stuff on dvd so I can take notes to keep up and pause it to take a break every 30 minutes or so.

Well, first of all it isn't a rant. If you're feeling like it is, it tells me how defensive you are about what you're doing. Second of all, if you don't take blasphemy seriously, then not much else about the religion is of much use - including communion.

I wonder how many of us have a font called "RosettaHebrew" installed. Exactly. Which is why using this method to display Hebrew text isn't really useful. One could, I suppose, provide a link to a place where viewers could download the font. But most people aren't going to bother. What I usually do when I want to post something like this is to grab a screen shot of the text, edit it down to a small image, upload it to my web site, and then post the image.

Yeah, it was really nice yesterday. After it cooled down we took some of the residents fishing at the pier in Port Isabel. I think we have rain coming today though. Just hope no more hail. We have appointments tomorrow to get the cars appraised.
