Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
You sound like you are furiously spinning. Maybe this all makes sense to you. Is this all based on that one verse? Your claim that Jesus is not "born of woman" cause he says there is none greater than John?
Don't you think that Jesus not including himself in the statement is a more logical reading?
In addition, you have not answered the question of how humanity, fallen humanity, is redeemed if Jesus does not take His humanity from the existing stock, but is instead a new creation?
If He is not a human of our lineage, then how can He redeem us?

I didn't have steak till I got home last night.
Guess what I had for supper after I got home last night?
Indeed. You are displaying this. In your quest to disrespect Mary, you remove the underpinnings to your own redemption. Oh well, scratch a Maryphobe and find a deficient Christology.
Ignoring verses like "of those born of women there is non greater than John" would be like beliving Jesus is not good or not God when He says "Why do you call me good, there is none good but God".
Nobody is ignoring the verse. Rather we are discussing what it means. It is clear to me that Jesus is excluding Himself. T would be very unhumble for him to say "Of those born of woman, none is greater than Me. Then, infinitely less than me, but still greter than others, is John."
Jesus was not a braggart.

Wow. Thanks for the superficial analysis, Kevin.
Now try the Biblical examples. Like "she had no more children till the day she died."
SD
Nope. My brother was first. I'm 2nd of 8 children. (I wasn't an accident) :-)
My cat found a nest of baby bunnies last night. After eating one of them, he went back later and got another. He actually gave it to my wife, who is now attempting to nurse it back to health.
SD
I'm with you on this one, Dave.
Correct. Being in bondage to the law is a curse. In other words those who figure their efforts to keep the law will save them are cursed. Of course we know not one jot or tittle of the law will pass until heaven and earth pass away.
Christianity is at liberty from the Law since the law could not make those holy who were under it. Christians are children of the promise "their lawless deads I will remember no more".
Of course you wouldn't know what a lawless deed is if it werent for the law. So the next time a police man stops you tell him "I'm not under the law". See what happens. :-)
Thanks. We still retain a thing or about the Redemption. :-)

Guess what I had for supper after I got home last night?
Oh, so naturally you've never had steak in your life. You are a lifetime steak free person. You are perpetually steak free. Ever steakless. Anyone can see this who unstands english. Thanks for claifying this to SD! You rock.
Exactly.
Now can we begin to consider that the Bible was not written in English?
SD
Wow. This is a new one. So Jeromes' 11 page explanation on Matthew 1:25 was for those who spoke english? But I digress. You two carry on. I'm weary. :-)
She would, obviously, just get it up to the point where she could let it go. I'm not sure how this will work, his eyes aren't even open yet! But she used to do such things when she was growing up, and there's no way to talk her out of trying now. She just felt maternal.
I have also been told that if you take a cats kill away from it, it will quit hunting, My cat is here to keep mice out of the house. So he gets to keep what ever he kills.
You could have knocked me over with a feather. My wife says she just went out to praise the kitty for his good hunting and he dropped the bunny into her hand.
If he had wanted to continue to play with or eat it, he would have. It's not like she interfered or took it from him.
He had caught one earlier and ate it. And later, afterwards, he caught another one.

Granted, it does not specifically say that he ever knew her after she gave birth.
But, guess what? Her death was never recorded, either. So, why not run with that, and build a big Mary-was-bodily-assumed-into-Heaven doctrine?! Hey, wait...they did that already.
The RC system builds its towers of babel where the bible is SILENT (foundations of sinking sand). Their doctrines are man-made. These are beyond interpretations. They're extra-biblical fabrications.
It would make just as much or even more sense to insist she had blonde hair (unless it's recorded somewhere that she didn't.)
Someone please let me know if there is a third meaning for "till" which lends credence to her alleged perpetual virginity.
