Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
I defer to your obviously superior knowledge of the Veggie Tales characters. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it..
I don't know if there's a big secret other than the people on here do get to know each other somewhat. I have a sister that disagrees with me on religion and politics, but I still love the heck out of her. When we get together we sometimes talk about religion and the discussion gets heated, same with politics. But other times we can joke around and talk about the things we have in common. I'm never going to stop being her brother or she my sister. It's the same way with all people I guess. We can either be enemies all the time, or friends who disagree some of the time.
Sheer stubbornness?
'Cuz everyone with thin skin left?
Because we love one another, even when we disagree?
To serve as an example for others, of course. :-)
In general, we have not made a nuisance of ourselves to the moderators. That's it. They don't care about this or that, or who's right or wrong. They just don't want to be constantly bothered.
Since we tend to fight fire with fire or to ridicule or ignore the more ignorant, we havent' generated "abuse" requests.
We even made it thru Calvinist infiltration:), do you think we would survive a mormon debate?
We could discuss things with Mormons, I am sure. We just couldn't have the Calvinists around at the same time. They bait the Mormons and then complain incessantly when they are called out for it.

What's the secret, maybe it would help them out on other threads. We even made it thru Calvinist infiltration:), do you think we would survive a mormon debate?
These two groups have nothing in common to talk about anyway, so what's the point?
lol...you did do that on purpose right?
"(And thus began the SECOND never-ending story) "
Exactly.
And if we get beyond trying to prove the other "wrong" and instead try to find out why he holds the ideas that he does, we just might learn something.
And the thing just might be that we hope God has mercy on these others, even if they are "wrong." As much as I'd wish the same on myself if I am wrong.

That was my problem for so long. I was always trying to prove why everyone else was wrong...bad motivation.
It's enough just to know I'm right :-) and let the chips fall where they may.
"What a maroon!" :)

Good observation Becky. I don't know if this has been answered yet, but I would submit it is because there has been a silent agreement not to "rat" each other out to the mods or JR.
Our dirty laundry remains private, well at least as private as a public internet bulletin board can be. If the other thread participants would lay off the abuse button we wouldn't have the problems we are currently having.
I don't think this thread would survive a Mormon debate. Well that's probably not entirely true. If it was with Utah Girl or Mormons like her we would probably survive. If it was Illbay, you can forget it.
I, uh, *gulp* agreewithDave!
*whew!* There. I said it.
Now to see if the ceiling can handle it....
Good topic Becky.
I guess we're like a good marriage, every once in a while, we have to cash in all our saved up stamps, and get the real or perceived gripes or arguments of what you believe the other person believes off our chest.
I think I know where everyone here will come from on any doctrinal issue, but sometimes I ask again, just to see if your/their answer has changed, or to make sure you ask yourself the question again and deal with your own answers. Lol
I don't usually follow through after they reply, because I know you still feel the same and I know it will end up the same way.
I still believe Catholicism is a basic Model T Ford, that theyve been adding accessories to it all these years so it will pass as being up to date, like reflectors, coon tails, curb feelers, chrome strips and fog lights and running lights and etc. for appearances. Oh, and foam rubber dice hanging on the RV Mirror.) Lol
I still think the Preterist believe as they do, because some one frightened them about the end of the world when they were young, and since God didnt directly say that the end wouldnt come for thousands of years after Christ, then its open for any interpretation you wish to give it.
That those who believe its necessary to keep the Sabbath and the Levitical food laws, and Jewish holy days, are trying to pay God back in some way because they cant believe that God would give them such a free gift, and not want them to do some work of the law to repay Him.
I still believe that we who God has forgiven the most, are more apt to believe in Eternal Security then those who have been forgiven little. They see their few sins, as ones that with just a little more work, and theyll be perfect on their own. On the other hand, those who have been forgiven much, know they could never come close to perfection, and are more then willing to let God have credit for everything they become.
But then again, ..
JH :-)
Pretty arrogant Jim. Do you always judge the thoughts and intentions of one's heart? Don't you thing you ought to leave that to God?
I hope the others will take this as a "tongue in cheek post, it wasn't meant to be critical, it's just as I see it with humor.
Sorry if I offended you
JH
