Anglican grouping GAFCON objects to female Archbishop of Canterbury

GAFCON, a grouping of conservative Anglican churches across Africa and Asia, said the Church of England's appointment of its first female Archbishop of Canterbury showed that the English arm of the church had "relinquished its authority to lead".

"Today's appointment makes it clearer than ever before that Canterbury has relinquished its authority to lead. The reset of our beloved Communion is now uniquely in the hands of GAFCON, and we are ready to take the lead," the alliance said in a statement on Friday.

That's not a woman; it's Garrison Keillor in drag.

The CoE seems to have less than 2 percent of the British people as members. It used to be a bit of a joke, that "the archbishop is a dame." Now it's still a joke, but a reality as well. The Archbishop is a Dame.

From some years back:

"...the mother church in England is in dire straits, with less than one million weekly attendees. Only 2% of the total population of England are regular worshippers in what had been the majority faith a century ago. Catholics, for comparison, have slightly fewer members at 8% (versus 12%) of the English population, but they are twice as likely to attend services (41% versus 21%). Just imagine Oliver Cromwell hearing the news that the papists and even Mohammedans rival them on their own shores."

It was expected for a long time that the African Anglican churches would separate from the C of E. This is it now. Also the Asians.

I get the feeling the C of E expected this and really want the Africans out.

Will they excise I Corinthians 14.34 from their Bibles?

The Anglican Church has been committing suicide for years. Like much else of GB.

I wonder where the Archbishop of the African/Asian Anglicans will live....
I think the most African Anglicans live in Nigeria.

If you asked them, they might tell you that it is a book written by their ancestor, King James.

Isn’t the Archbishop of Canterbury appointed by the Monarch who just happens to be an open islamophile?

“Just imagine Oliver Cromwell hearing the news that the papists and even Mohammedans rival them on their own shores.”

As a papist, it’s tempting to gloat, but we can’t. The very same forces of modernism and apostasy that culminated in a pro-abortion, pro-LGBT Archbishopess of Canterbury are at work inside the Catholic Church. There but for the grace of God go wek. There are people inside the Catholic Church including at hte highest levels of the hierarchy who look at the C of E as the way forward. It defies all logic and reason, but they truly see it that way.

Theological/canonical arguments aside, don't write off Archbishop Sarah. Before the See of London, she was Suffragen Bishop of Crediton. She was President of a County charity of which Mrs Winniesboy was chair, and I had a chance to see her in action at first hand. She is very impressive. It's an impossible job: but she has as good a chance as anybody of pulling it off.

...appointed by the Monarch (who just happens to be a devout Christian who has responsibilities towards British citizens of all faiths and none) on the advice of the Prime Minister, who in turn is advised by a Church of England committee, the Crown Nominations Commission.
