The parking lot was crowded, so she had a bit of a walk to get to the front door of the Pharmacy. The Parking Lot Surveillance Cameras traced her journey from the car to the front door.

As she went through the door, the Inside Cameras picked up her image as she walked up and down the aisles, picking up a few items here and there. The Camera at the Cashier showed her clearly paying for the items. The Door Camera picked her up again as she exited, and, by chance, a city bus stopped in front of her, blocking the Outdoor Parking Lot Cameras. The Camera on the Bus caught her as the bus pulled away, and then she was gone. Her car sat, abandoned, in the parking Lot, and she didn't board the bus.

Several days went by before she was reported missing. As she was an adult, the search was not as frantic as it would have been for a child. After all, some people would LIKE to just disappear. But, after a few days and some frantic calls from relatives, the investigation got serious.

Experts poured over the Surveillance Videos from the Parking Lot, The Pharmacy, and the Bus, but they couldn't extract a clue as to where she had gone. She showed no movements that would indicate that she was trying to avoid the Cameras, and, even as the Experts zoomed in on each and every frame, they couldn't seem to find anything. There were other people in the videos, but none of them matched any faces or mug shots that may have shown foul play. Computers ran programs day and night to find a match to a possible suspect, but came up empty.

Then, finally, somebody decided to actually search the premises, and found her corpse in an alley nearby that wasn't under surveillance. I don't know if they ever found her murderer, but this was big news in my Florida neighborhood for weeks afterward. How could the woman's assailant have known about the cameras, especially the random one on the bus? It is a Mystery that I've never been able to reconcile. (I've tried to find the newspaper articles about this on the Internet, but apparently, there have been so many crimes in the area since this happened that it's been consigned to the Memory Hole.)

Despite the Failure of the Surveillance Cameras to solve the Mystery of the Missing Woman, they are everywhere. Red-Light Cameras, Ring Doorbell Cameras, High-Tech Outdoor Cameras, and Motion-Sensitive Cameras adorn nearly every home and business in our society. They may be Ubiquitous, but they are NOT Omnipresent. Omnipresence is being Everywhere, At the Same Time, All the Time, in the Time-Space Continuum.

This, to the Human Mind, is Impossible. It is one of the Attributes of the Holy Spirit (and, so, I mean, God) that is beyond our understanding. Even when we walk in His Grace and are robed in His Righteousness, we can't grasp certain things about The Holy Spirit. Omniscience (Yesterday's Study) is one of those. Omnipresence (Today's Study), is another.

It's not like the Cameras, no matter how many of them are around. God doesn't just SEE everything, He is There, Present IN Everything.

Psalm 139:7-12 describes this Quality of Omnipresence in a beautiful way. David, the Author, knew what it was like to hide. He had to hide from Saul, from the Philistines, and even from his rebellious son Absalom.

But David knew he couldn't hide from God. In Psalm 51, David confesses his sin, and begs God to "not take His Holy Spirit away from him".

In Psalm 139, he confesses his conviction that he can never hide from The Holy Spirit, no matter where he goes.

While the Ubiquitous Surveillance Cameras are a scary idea, The Omnipresent Holy Spirit is a Source of Comfort and Confidence.

You can't hide from Him, but who would WANT to?
