Christianity made absolutely no progress as a political force under the Republican Party.

That may be your opinion, but at least the Republican Party helped it hold it’s ground the last 40 years under constant assault. And it is making a minor comeback, with the moves of conservative Republican governors like DeSantis in Florida, and Landry in Louisiana.

This phony new platform seeks to rip the rug out from under all that momentum, all in the name of a single election, if not person, who was a lifelong Democrat.

I have no idea what “momentum” you’re talking about. I look around and see unmistakable signs of Christianity in decline. And it’s not due to any religious persecution by diabolical pagans, either. They have just flat-out lost their faith.

And forget about Trump as a political candidate. What was the point of having the GOP maintain a pro-life plank in its national platform while it was pushing a radical pro-abortion @sshole like Mitt Romney as a presidential candidate? And when did a Republican Congress ever pass a spending bill that cut funding for Planned Parenthood to $0?

Conservatives need to learn to play the long game. Trump will be battered by the abortion issue as were some GOP candidates in the mid terms. By taking the issue off the board it becomes harder to attack the GOP on abortion. You need to get conservatives elected and I can say anecdotally from my own experience, many younger woman take a pass on GOP candidates over one issue, abortion. It is holding conservatives back from building majorities in the House and Senate. Get conservatives elected and then kill abortion through death by a thousand cuts. It is the only way.

SCOTUS made abortion a State issue and removed it from the Federal government. For now. Anti-abortion activists need to start thinking strategically with their heads and not their hearts. There is no real desire in the Federal government to vote on a Nationwide abortion ban. It is not happening so get over it. It is time to aim small hit small. Aim big, you miss big and that is what has been happening the last few election cycles. State by state work on getting people in to block abortion. Right now a lot is playing out in the courts, we will eventually find the right legal balance to at least restrict abortions if not outright ban abortions in a State. But it will only happen state by state. That makes the issue a self-inflicted wound in Federal elections.

Play the long game, conservative Governors, State legislators and especially AGs. Get a GOP House, Senate and White House to reign in the DOJ and enforce bans on Federally funded abortions. No federal dollars for abortions and States cannot use Federal funds to directly or indirectly fund abortions. Right now you need Trump to get that done and he can only do it if elected.
